Hi all, the first time I had my ears looked at for "this weird, like I can hear my pulse in my ears" was January 2015, and I'm lazy about visiting Drs so it must have started a few months prior. Anyway, that pulse in my ears has warped into this demon ROARCRUNCH...For a while I was describing it as a waves crashing + thunderstorm lovechild, but it's taken on a life of its own and I cannot get anyone to understand how effing irritating this is.
Mine's been in both my ears from the start. I have TMJ, which I was taking heavy painkillers for, over an extended period of time while also riding the merry go round of medications for depression and anxiety. And I think in just that previous sentence, I dinged about 5 checkboxes of "causes."
The ONLY thing that has given any type of relief, and yes I'm going to say it -- has dialed the volume down by about 80%, is Xanax. My dr keeps me on it thankfully (I also need it for anxiety and panic, insomnia, the kitchen sink). But nothing else has worked. White noise machines, ear plugs, all just make my tinnitus worse. Makes the ROARCRUNCH even louder. I don't know how anyone deals with this, honestly.
With empathy,
Jules
