Cause of Tinnitus
car accident
Hello, my account disappeared and my post thread did as well. Weird.

I joined yesterday about my tinnitus that I got 10 days ago after a car accident. The car accident was not very violent but enough to give me a post concussion syndrome. I had a loud ringing in my ears when I woke up and it got very low after. The next two days it was low and then it was gone for a day and a half. Suddenly it came back super high pitch and has been there constantly for 3 days now. It is not very loud in the morning but as the day goes by it gets sharper. The ringing cuts through sounds from the Tv and such. I am scared to use earbuds so I haven't but now I feel like it might be permanent. Why does it get so loud around 6pm? I feel so down and cannot focus on anything.

I'm not so sure.
I remember someone posted youtube links and links to threads. I asked if I can use earbuds. However, I was not able to come back after that and my account was gone with my thread.

@Zuzan When you see your ENT besides having an ear and hearing examination discuss everything else that is going on including any discomfort within your neck. I would stay in touch with your GP and discuss if you should see a neurologist.

In your other post you mentioned your neck and jaw. Why your post concussion tinnitus disappeared for a day and a half and why it increases later in the day is discussed within medical journals.

In this easy to read link is a chiropractor that mentions - post concussion patients with this condition. He comes to the same conclusion that long winded medical journals do, but the journals also mention more about alignment slightly moving in and out of place that may be the answer to your questions in paragraph above.

I would talk to your doctors after examination about if you should see an upper cervical therapy specialist. Post concussion syndrome is often not lasting including a tinnitus factor, but physical therapy treatment may be advised by your doctors.

Thank you for your advice! Would an ENT be able to refer me to an upper cervical specialist or a Neorologist?
When I wake up in the morning its conpletely gone but when I start moving or talking it slowly comes.

It looks you are on your way to a complete recovery. If there's anything still going on when you see the ENT, I would also discuss about seeing a sports medicine therapist or sport medicine doctor. Most cities have sport injury therapists. Maybe you could call one yourself and drop in for a discussion if you still have concerns in the next week or two.

It started in a similar way with me, it will feel less sharp and annoying if it even stays. Try not to stress about it that just makes it worse

Yes, I will consider that. I am worried that there is something wrong with my jaw or neck and that I need surgery to fix it. I'm also worried that the ENT will not do anything. Right now, the ringing is there, not super loud but the volume is increasing throughout the day. Do most people recover? I feel like it's here to stay
