Hello all... I'm pretty new here, and when I get the chance to drop in on this site/forum it's JUST GREAT what I am finding and what people are sharing. I feel a lot less alone. Thank you!!!
However, there is one thing that I am doing all the time, and I can't imagine that others are not as well??? It's sort of basic...

OK, so I come online here and I see a bunch of new posts. Of course I want to read them all but I don't have the time, so pick something that strikes me, or that I'm following, etc. Also, I am beginning to see familiar "faces" and a little knowledge of who and what is building...A beginning.
But with nearly all the posts I'm like parachuting through your ceiling into your living room, appearing suddenly, sitting there having a chat. Apart from the very narrow content of what is in the post I'm almost 100% blind to who you are, and how you even got your tinnitus, or what kind it is. So, in a way, I'm kind of just shooting from the hip at figuring out what is going on.....Not so productive, or maybe even unhelpful. So what do I do?!

I immediately open up a new tab and go to YOUR PROFILE to find out who you are and at least what kind of tinnitus you have and how you got it. Basic info. Essential info., for me at least. But what do I find there??? For the vast majority = NOTHING! Maybe a date or a few words.......This puzzles me. Am I the only one???

Again, for me, it would be super helpful if in the PROFILE I could see more of who you are and at minimum not just a date of when you go tinnitus...but how, and maybe a sense of how loud it is (subjective I know), etc. I mean after "three ramps up" my ringing is louder than any other sounds I hear. Initially it was only audible in a very quiet room, or if I was meditating, etc. That is a huge and, if I am conversing with you, relevant thing to know. Etc., etc., etc.
I think you follow my drift here. "More is Better" for me...INFO....not tinnitus of course! :thankyousign:

Wooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ha, ha....way cool. I just figured out how you smarty pants folks get those little jelly bean critters and faces into a post. WATCH OUT AHEAD!!! (No it's OK, I'll contain myself).

Thanks all. Take care....Zimichael

(The only thing you need to keep in mind is that my tinnitus is the worst tinnitus, regardless of what anyone else says and despite all appearances to the contrary. I think keeping this in mind will garner me the appropriate amount of support I need from this forum. :X3:)

I went into detail on the quality and intensity of my T in my intro post, if you want the nitty gitty details, though:

https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/hiya-round-2-with-tinnitus-here.2914/

I'd say mine is moderate, with occasional mild periods. Before my spike a month and a half ago, I'd have said that it was mild, with occasional moderate periods. Pretty much a complete flipover. My T used to very slooooooowly build up in intensity around sounds throughout the day, now it does so much more quickly, and most of my mornings aren't that quiet anymore. The worse it starts out, generally, the worse it'll get. When it gets bad, not even a crowded store will mask it.

My T is a fighter, and generally if I think I've found something that'll cover it up it'll still find a way to peak through a few minutes later. Only showers, sinks, and Captain Crunch will mask it consistently. And I'm all out of Captain Crunch. :arghh:

Hi Zimichael: If there is a poster you would like to get to know a little better, you often can find more about their lives with and beyond tinnitus here: the "Introduce Yourself" forum ( I think there now is a separate intro forum for those with pulsatile T); and the "Tell Us About Your Avatar" and "Wondering What We All Do for Living" (or some title along those lines) threads, both which are under the General Chat forum. You just do a search by poster and can find if they have posted on these topics.

I do agree that it would be easier if people just filled out the profile. But posting on these threads does allow us to write a bit more. Me, the short version: Got tinnitus from barotrauma on a plane flight last May, am a journalist, am 58 yrs old, fortunately married to a sweet and supportive man, live in South Florida. But you will find out a lot more, should you want to, by checking my posts on the threads mentioned above.

Oh, and my avatar is not a real picture of me. ;)

And welcome!

PS: Note to newbies: If you can, please do introduce yourself on the above mentioned thread when you sign up for TT. It keeps you from having to tell the same "how I got tinnitus" story over and over, and allows the rest of us to get to know you better.

Thanks for the replies so far and Smoogle's answer turned on the slow light bulb...like yeah, I can do a "Member Search" and it worked, as I just get a limited amount of members showing on the scroll list then they just stop.
Also a "Hello, new here introduction" post (like that link Smoogle) was highly informative and covers my request more than adequately.
So I guess that's a work around - though info in the PROFILE would still be kinda easy too, as per Lady Di above mentions just above.

Best!...Zimichael

Sorry if this is annoying, but I posted this at the beginning of January and am making a new thread to add the word "REPEAT" in there...As the issue still stands. [Threads combined by Markku]

I am still regularly popping over to a member's "Profile" to see more about who they are, where they are, what kind of tinnitus they have, and so on...before I respond (or attempt to respond) to their new post, etc. However, when I go to the Profile Page/Information, I still get mostly zero information. Not even how their tinnitus was caused or came about...Maybe just a 'since' date.

Now I know I could go and do a search in "Members" or scroll through the long list of postings in the "Introduce Yourself" section...but it is tedious and time consuming and also tends show zero information for most. The quickest way to get info would be via some background on that "Information" tab on your Profile page...Two simple clicks away!!! And so helpful!!!

So this is a personal request please, that would really help me (maybe others) to know you more and maybe to help in some more directed way. THANKS...

Take care... Michael
