Miss Reading a Book So Much

I remember you saying that about your tinnitus fluctuating, sorry. Let me know if you finish it and if it's any good. I ordered my kindle today oasis 7" so I'm looking forward to reading or at least trying to.

Thanks for rubbing it in that you've ordered the Oasis7 drat... I have Oasis 6 and the Voyage. Try Peter James I think you'll like this writing style. I hadn't read for two years and it's his book: Dead Simple, that got me back into reading. Even though it took me weeks to read due to my fluctuating tinnitus. I have read every book in the Roy Grace series, and book 13 is out on May 17th. I will also be buying a hardback to get it signed.

I couldn't resist as you said you can't stop buying the updated versions haha I will put him on my list if I haven't already I'll have to check. 13 books in a series, that's good. Do they have a nice flow as normally with a long series they tend to run out of steam a bit which is understandable.

They have a very good flow. I don't know what part of the world you live but the books are based on a Brighton, Police detective Roy Grace and solves murders in the City of Brighton & Hove and surrounding towns. Very well written and will keep you gripped to the last page. I liked the books so much when I was looking to move from London, Brighton was my choice to relocate and I've been living here 4 years and liking it a lot.

I'm in England, I like a good detective series so will definitely look that up. We used to have a house in Brighton but that got sold a few years back, haven't been back there is years. Used to love it up there when I was younger.

I'm sure you'll like Peter James writing style and his sense of humour. Download a sample of Dead Simple, when you get your new Kindle.

I will do, think it's being delivered tomorrow or Wednesday.

It's a nice piece of kit and hope you have many good reading hours. If you ever happen want to buy a high-end reading light, check out "serious readers" A UK company that make lights specially for reading. Even though the Kindle has built in light, using a good reading lamp makes reading more enjoyable. The High-definition reading lamps are the best..

Funny you should say that, I've been looking at different lights. The HD ones look like they would be the best. I'll definitely invest in a light as well.

This is after we purged last month:

Thanks Micheal, I'll trust your judgment on this haha kind of strange as I'm excited about it being delivered and have not felt like this for a while.... hopefully it may help with my reading.

They are expensive JCB but if you're like me and I have a feeling you are. Then one gets what they pay for and I like to have the "best" that I can afford.

I am indeed, I agree you certainly do get what you pay for. If it's of good quality and beneficial for me I don't mind paying at all and of course don't mind treaing myself also haha

That's exactly the way I think....

Life's too short, I want to enjoy it and buying certain things help with that (obviously many other things I enjoy in life as well not just materialistic things haha)

I think most people are materialistic to some degree @Jcb I am an Audiophile and that eats money like there's no tomorrow. The constant upgrading of Audio equipment to reach the ultimate in sound quality. Just when you think you've got it. The manufacturers bring out a new piece of equipment tempting one to upgrade. I am no longer on the upgrade path believe me it's worse than Amazon's Kindle trying to keep up with the latest equipment...

Definitely, I agree with most people being materialistic up to a point. I hear you I love my tech from coffee machines to game consoles (which I barley touch nowdays) That's how company's make their money add one little new feature and bam you need to have it. I love music/films so I always look for the best equipment... TV's, sound bars etc it can be quite addictive.....

Nice place you have @Hazel but all those books. You need a Kindle

Thanks, Michael! I got a Kobo recently, just to try out the whole ebook thing. I can see the appeal, but the Kobo reacts sluggishly to touch. Maybe splurging on a Kindle is the way to go...

Hi @Hazel

I never thought I would like the ebook until I tried it. I have a Voyage and Oasis 6inch screen. Both are fast and have the same screen resolution which is the same as the new Oasis 7inch display. Try the Kindle you won't regret it....

Managed to read a whole chapter tonight before I lost my concentration. I'm happy with this considering my thoughts have been all the over the place today. Plus my new kindle has arrived so looking forward to downloading some good books.

I'm so glad you were able to get in a little reading. Hope you enjoy downloading new books. :)

I'm happy I'm getting there, still would rather finish American Gods though haha I'm really enjoying it.

Managed to read another chapter last night, tried again today but got one page in and my brain was like.... nope not today son.

Nearly finished
How's the reading coming along? I've been doing a little reading almost every day. :bookworm:

It's still a bit erratic tbh, some days I can read a chapter others I just can't concentrate. I'm getting there which is a plus.
How you feeling lately?

I've been feeling pretty good, but I've just had a four day holiday weekend spent at home. Today I go back to work.

That's great, have you done much reading? :bookworm: Was that a good thing staying at home? I know sometimes it's just nice to do nothing, sometimes though it's not.

These days I prefer staying home. Between my OCD and H in my bad ear, going anywhere is a source of anxiety. I didn't read as much as I usually would on a long weekend, but I'm still building my concentration back up. I finished a book that I wasn't enjoying all that much, but I do like to finish what I start. So it felt good to actually finish it. I need to make a really good choice for my next book so I'll be eager to pick it up everyday.
