My TTTS is at its absolute worst right now. My ear feels super full with a light air release every now and then (ear ventilation). Of course this causes bad ear aches.

I have weird nerve sensations at the temples of my head and in my face! Never had this before.

My ringing is off the roof.

My ears spasm to any sound, including my own voice!

I'm at the point where I'm about to go to the hospital since I'm not eating or sleeping but before doing this, because clearly they'll sedate me, is there anything natural I can take to minimize some of the symptoms so that I can at least sleep and eat for goodness' sake?

Please, any information or help will be appreciated. I'm at the edge right now.

No incident caused this, I don't understand what caused the hyperacusis spike, severe TTTS and awful tinnitus all at once! It makes no sense. I don't even go outside.

Sorry to hear you're going through this.

Some natural things to help sleep, in no particular order are, melatonin, taurine, l-theanine, oleamide, magnesium glycinate, lemon balm, apigenin and glycine.

It's important to understand that the symptoms you are experiencing right now will most likely improve. They do for almost everyone. It can take a while though. Going to the doctor and getting a short script of some type of antidepressant or benzo is probably a good idea just to get you past this worst part.

Hi @stacey - I can relate to a lot of what you're going through, especially the face and temple sensations.

I was not eating either but this was due to my throat tightening. I assume the fact you are not eating is down to how you are feeling about your tinnitus?

The first thing, having gone through this and 5 full days of not sleeping or eating, is to say to you that eating something right now is the most important thing you can do - even if you don't want to.

Not eating whilst not sleeping and going through this will make you feel much worse (I have just been there so I know this too well!).

For sleep there are only a couple of things I can suggest.

First, don't try to sleep unless you are extremely tired. So tired you could just close your eyes and drift off.

Before even attempting sleep, have a hot bath and warm drink, perhaps some Magnesium (Calm) or chamomile tea.

What helped me is watching on TV something lighthearted or something I enjoyed watching from my childhood in an otherwise darkened room (something with subtitles if your tinnitus is reactive).

Don't force the sleep. Just lie as comfortable as you can and watch TV until your eyes feel heavy, and even then it sometimes helps fighting it for a while, until you just want to close your eyes.

This is of course without help from the various sleeping tablets available.

I know how bad all this is, and it may not all fall in to place in one night, but it will eventually.

Again I was dismissed by an ear doctor who told me "your ear drum is physically fine, no infection or perforation," He felt my jaw and said it isn't happenstance that I have tinnitus, hyperacusis and TTTS on the right since he strongly believe I have a TMJ issue. He said I should get that checked out. Yet another doctor to blame TMJ on ear issues... Gee, thanks doc.

The doctor may be right or wrong, but it would be foolish to not get your jaw checked out. There are cases of people who had hyperacusis where their jaw and/or neck was a major factor in their symptoms. Unfortunately medicine has over-compartmentalised the anatomy of the body, so there's not enough cross-understanding between specialities, but to give you one example, some of the muscles in the middle ear have the same embryologic origins as the masseters in the jaw.

I was gonna say lol, if you go to the hospital, they will just look at you puzzled. People can't even fathom what this condition actually is when you get severe. It sucks. Even my mom's new boyfriend thinks that it's all in my head.

If only he could feel how sound feels to me for just one second.
