Cause of Tinnitus
Loud music
My name is Kevin, and I no longer suffer from Tinnitus. However, I still have a story to share about my experience. This may be a bit of a long one, so bare with me. Back in October, I started struggling with tinnitus. Before this, I was going out Salsa dancing at a nearby place almost every week. No matter how many times I went, my hearing was fine, and I enjoyed it. Then one night, I was getting tired of the place, so I went to a different salsa club. However, this was a much louder nightclub than the previous one. Then was even a live band there. At one point, I remember even grabbing my ear in pain because I was a bit too close to a speaker. And then when I got back, it happened. I heard ringing in my ears. I wasn't too familiar with what it was at the time, but I googled it, and I heard it was called tinnitus. It went away the next day, so I took a week break before going back to the loud salsa dancing place.

Except this time, I heard that there would be no band, so I thought it would be safe. It wasn't; and when I came back, there was ringing again. Then it went away again, so I gave some time before going back to the quieter salsa place. The ringing happened again, and this time it nearly sealed the deal. I went through two weeks of severe ringing in the ears. The ringing last about 20 minutes to an hour each time, with it occasionally going away before coming back. At times I would also hear loud crickets as well. During this time, I was also accompanied by severe pain in the ears as well, which lasted for a few weeks. My ears were also sensitive to loud sounds too. The only way I was able to sleep or do my work, was through the fan I have in my room.

Anyways, after the huge episodes finally went away, I still dealt with quiet ringing on and off for the next several weeks. It finally went away in December. I even went to see Star Wars Rouge in theaters, and my ears were great afterwards, So in January, I decided to go salsa dancing one last time at the quieter place, since I was able to go the movies without any problems. However, when I left, there was ringing! I was so scared that it would be permanent. However, I went to sleep, and when I woke up, it was gone. From that point on, I have vowed never to go back to salsa dancing unless I found a place with much softer music. I don't have ringing anymore, and I can sleep in complete peace, but still. This is a lesson to take care of your hearing. I almost sealed the deal back in October. And one day if I'm not careful, (which I will be) it could very well be permanent.

Glad to know you've recovered. I actually felt my T gradually going away until I decided to listen to loud music. So your tinnitus wasn't constantly always on? Can I ask how old are you? I'm hoping my tinnitus leaves as well. It's been a rough week for me, but I'm trying to power through it.
I have crickets sounds as well as ringing. It's been almost two weeks since the new sound came. I'm getting mixed tones of tinnitus on and off my day constantly.
Did you do anything or take anything different when you had your tinnitus? I take my earplugs with me everywhere I go. I hope to have a successful story like you. Wear earplugs when you go to loud places. You don't want this pesky noise to come back. Congratulations again on your recovery.

I'm in my 20's. And fortunately, my tinnitus wasn't always on, so I knew it would fade eventually. During this time, I usually stayed in my room with the huge window fan so. This was the only way I could concentrate. Out in public, things were pretty rough at times, and my ears were sensitive. For example; someone closing a car door too hard could produce pain in my ears. As for the constant pain in my ears, sometimes it would get so bad, that I would break down crying. I went to the doctor, and they saw nothing wrong, which was a sign that I was recovering (even with the pain still there). What's scary is that a couple weeks earlier when the pain and ringing really kicked in, I put my ear to my pillow, and I heard my ear drum beating very fast and rapidly.

As for earplug, I'm still afraid that using them might be a risk. During the time of the ringing, I used earplugs to go to a club once. Bu the music was so loud that it barely helped. I got back, and the ringing intensified. I was terrified that it would be permanent, but it went away in five minutes. I just really have to be careful; one day, a mistake will cause the ringing to not go away this time.

Earplugs are not dangerous (whatever that is supposed to mean lol). The noise you expose yourself to when wearing them might be dangerous.
