Hi, I've had tinnitus for almost 10 years. The thing I find almost nightly, it changes in sound and intensity after I've gone to sleep. When I wake up it's entirely different. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a similar phenomenon as my T is usually quieter when I wake up in the morning. T is not constant as the volume for me can increase during the day as it proceeds, even without any noise exposure.

@William Johnson Hi, I have exactly the same issue. I have maybe three decent days out of the week often after acupuncture and the rest of the days are pretty hellish where I wear Tinnitus retraining White Noise devices.

sometimes playing music through earbuds in the morning when I'm not quite awake will help lower the sound.

whatever sound I have when I actually awaken and get out of bed is what stays with me for the rest of the day.

Altogether it's maddening. I'm signed up for Nuromod scheduling in the spring and I'm hoping that brings a significant change.

Mine is usually fairly quiet when going to bed but louder when I wake up.

Mine changes a lot during the day, from baseline to nearly non existent. Can't find a reason as of yet other than the way i'm sitting or laying down.

Sometimes it does seem that way for me too, although I'm skeptical that is just my perception of it changing based on how tired I am and how well I can focus on it.

My T stays pretty one note and intensity during the day. Gets louder at night and towards the early morning hours I get a cacophony of sounds in addition to the buzz—tapping, chushing and other sounds—which eventually chases me out of bed. I can't help but believe there is a positional component to T as I don't have it during the day when I'm up and about.

I also have a strange occurrence sometimes when I wake up at night it seems it's(T) is going really fast like a spinning top. Than after I'm awake for a while it slows down. That's been going on for about a year. And I ' m hearing different sounds I've never heard before.

I have different sounds each day. Sometimes it just takes 10 minutes of sleep to change the tone. When I come home from work and I take a little nap, (the ride take about 45 minutes), the tone change. My most common tones are a hiss, cicadas and something like an ultrasound high pitch. Sometimes the sound is higher and the nap make it better, sometimes it works on reverse. My tinnitus is worst in the morning, and some days I wake up and I have a kind of sound, but after 2 hours of being wake, it changes for better. It´s worst when I am sitting and very somatic.
