My Positive Story and Insights to Habituation

Hi OP,

If you had/have any hearing loss, was it conductive or sensorineural hearing loss?

And has any of it ever come back?

I had my hearing tested and didn't have any hearing loss. In the group of people I did the TRT based therapy with, there were people with hearing loss too. I have no clue what type. The audiologist mentioned that if you hear less external sounds you could hear internal sounds more easily, but this doesn't matter in terms of being able to habituate to those internal sounds. He had examples of patients with hearing loss of deafness habituated to the point where they don't even hear the tinnitus at all anymore.

I use the words brain buzz to describe a feeling I have sometimes in my head.
I have 3 things going on. One is a mild sensitivity to louder noise. One is my T high pitch noise and one is brain buzz
Brain buzz is a feeling of brain activity, static electricity in my brain, a kind of a headache.
The first time I went and got a Craniosacral therapy massage I was hoping that it would do anything for my noise and the answer was no but I felt better anyways for a few days. I didn't have much faith in it but I went back again and again I felt better but the noise is the same. Then I started to realize that I had brain buzz. brain buzz was like a third characteristic of my T and the therapy discharged this energy out of my brain which helped me feel better. I started reading about earthing. Earthing is how to release electricity out of the body which reminded me how at peace I use to be after I did some gardening when I was younger.

I hope reading this was not too confusing.

I also have this brain vibration/hum feeling at the back of my head. I find it very disconcerting. Don't remember having this the first time I got T 8 years ago. Have you guys had any luck with this easing?
Going through this relapse after being completely habituated for years is difficult but you guys are keeping my hope up too that we can do this again. I have pulsing headaches this time also and somatic tinnitus and pulsing heartbeat in ears in bed at night. I am guessing it is all linked to the new T and probably hte amount of anxiety I am feeling as a result of the T. Doing as much as I can to stay normal too despite it being a struggle. CintemplConte going on antidepressants for the last three weeks but still have not. It's getting me very down which is making bit harder to deal with it normally. Do we just keep going. I have faith too and believe in a god or higher purpose and friend a and family which give me some hope.
Thinking of you guys too. Keep the faith :)

@PaulFi -- I would recommend you consider other alternatives before resorting to antidepressants--which have consistently shown to cause or exacerbate tinnitus. After much research (and experimentation), I discovered that HBOT did absolute wonders for my brain, neurological system, and ability to sleep.

Some businesses rent these out for about $600/month, and you may want to see whether that might work for you. There are many other alternative things to consider as well. I'm convinced that if most people diligently explored these kinds of alternatives, the anti-depressant industry would go out of business.

In my case it is clearly stress related. Only way to get out of the cycle is to allow it, like I explained in my main post. I had migraines, painful neck that I almost couldn't move, a vibrating hum in ears, restless legs, and all kinds of symptoms related to the stress. I handled them the same as my tinnitus, allow it to be, trust my body knows what it's doing. Soon the brain will learn that it's all not a threat and this is the way out of this negative cycle. At the same time be good to yourself to lower stress, feel what you really need and don't forget the stress hormone increasing stuff like caffeine and the inflammation increasing stuff like sugar.

By the way, I developed a theory myself, don't know how true it is. Caffeine, excessive sugar, addictions, excessive gaming, porn, all cause abnormally high dopamine levels. Soon the things that would normally make you feel good, like meeting a loved one, will feel bland because you are used to much higher dopamine levels. This will make your normal life feel hopeless. Now I read that tinnitus and dopamine are related too. I think all is connected. And every change you make to get away from addiction (any type of addiction) will eventually help you on your way in a big way. Once I quit sugar, caffeine and wheat, I felt amazing after 2,5 months of feeling worse. It was the best I've ever felt in my life. Unshakeable, calm, energetic, clean, able to take on life. I'm not sure how it all ties together, but this has become the path for me.

My tinnitus is maybe a 3/4, sometimes 5 and I can't habituate. People like me, who have other mental problems will have a much harder time habituating, to anything worse then very mild tinnitus. It is impossible for some of us.
I've been meaning to ask this, but how do you classify 3-4/10 tinnitus. Like where all you can hear it? Can you hear it outside if you focus?

I can hear it outside, but not around moderate traffic and other moderate sounds.
