I don't blame GE's for not knowing about tinnitus
i blame ENT's because they are supposed to be specialized about knowing the inner ear.
A biotech firm is trying to cure hearing loss on less than $100 million.
How many diseases could they cure with this type of money?

I blame both. GPs should be educated to provide steroids and HBOT recommendation immediately upon an acoustic trauma complaint. Prior to any referral to otology.
Yes, I know that the evidence for both treatments is poor and I know that GPs are not intended to be ear specialists. But severe T and HL are so horrendous, and absolutely permanent (at the moment), they must be combated any way possible. Period.
My opinion.
I'm legitimately losing my mind and life here and... I just want to say I love you guys. JohnAdams, Contrast, threefirefour, dpdx, jazzer and all the rest of you, you are amazing, I love you. I know I know this is just internet friendship but still, thank you for everything. You're the only ones who get this absolute f*cking hell within hell. This is a huge advantage of global communication with the web. Allows people with something in common from around the world to connect with each other.
It does make coping easier. The worst part of going through hardship is being surrounded by people that can't understand. There's no deficit of that here. That's why I donated to the webmasters. They are doing a great service to us simply by hosting this forum. I plan on regularly donating just because of that.
This is literally a war of words and ideas between proponents of TRT and proponents of funding genuine regenerative research (like us). Unfortunately I believe we are the underdog, although I hope that is slowly changing.
Someone is afraid of having their careers going 'bye bye' and screwing up their retirements.

To be fair, imho I wouldn't necessarily ascribe bad motives. I think it is possible TRT works for milder tinnitus, or even for more severe cases for a certain amount of individuals. Maybe. Although I don't know how much of the is TRT or just plain getting used to it!
It's the fact that research money is being put into it and that it is being held up as a gold standard treatment that KILLS me. It's a completely f'ed up paradigm.
Also after learning about TRT it just seems silly to call it a "treatment", it just seems kind of a dressed-up juvenile protocol. Then again I'm very biased against it because of the research and funding impediment issue, so yeah.

It's pretty much this. Hell even before a tinnitus treatment, they're going to hate online tinnitus communities because they offer what these TRT programs do for free.
This drives me up a wall, and about a year ago (almost exactly a year ago when MPP was formed), nobody else cared that research money was being wasted on TRT. On r/tinnitus, there's still people who support some sort of petition to have more research on TRT funded in Britian. There's people who think that it is and always will be the gold standard.
I've seen some people claim that tinnitus is completely cognitive; and that if you ignore it, it simply isn't a problem. Some people really are that indoctrinated. The paradigm is stupid but the paradigm has shifted from TRT to treatment. Some of us are just now getting the memo :^)
btw if research shows to fail within the next following years we can just turn MPP into a pro suicide movement like threefirefour originally intended.
