TRT is no real answer to this physical/neurological "Hell On Earth" from which we all suffer.
It is not a psychological / mental illness.

I think we have to concede that it may give people some hope of developing better coping mechanisms, practices. Meditation etc....
but that is about the extent of the improvement.

However, I can't help feeling that the damage caused by excessive noise is too complex for a medication to reverse.
Sometimes I get a bit 'opti-pessmic'.......

Maybe you can be pessimistic for a total cure, thats fine. However a valid treatment to manage T seems well within the possibility in the near future. I'd like to see something that helps severe T sufferers to bring it down to a mild level. I think nearly everyone can deal with a mild/very mild T. I think that is not to unrealistic to hope for, right?

i was reading through a 2015 ATA paper they did mention hair cell regeneration as a possible treatment on a part of a page.

if they ever made a cochlear implant like device that was superior or just as good as natural hearing that would be a problem. The normie ENT's would probably make it cut off at 8k.

seriously existing cochlear implants are designed to cut off at 8k

tbh what if there was a cochlear implant that was so fucking advance we could just cut our AN entirely and use that to solve tinnitus, hearing loss, and painful hyperacusis.

hear complex speech in background noise up to 20000hz

that'd be a beautiful ending

seriously, having a cyborg ear that worked perfectly would be a bajillion times better then cochlear hair cell regeneration.

i thought about it, but never looked into the science behind it and what limitations exist.

Wow. I can't believe he actually said that. That is beyond disgusting.
I'm going to hope you're trolling and this is fake?
Well. Previously I did not have an opinion on PJ himself, only on funding TRT. I didn't know much about he himself.
But now I do.
Mind you, If he had just said he doesn't think a cure for T is possible, well that's okay. It's his opinion, although ideally he'd admit that he's kinda biased you know. But hey.

But, betting with a researcher that there will be no cure, and, in his own words "have an ongoing bet... keep winning free beer" because countless sufferers of severe T only have TRT available and are tortured beyond belief?!!
That is beyond disgusting. Repugnant. Disrespectful to tinnitus sufferers and tinnitus DEATHS. "Free beer". Yup.
And this is not some random guy off the street, mind you. This is a man who purports to be a clinician helping people who suffer with this disease itself. What an inconsiderate, greedy man.

Disgusting. Think about it. Wow. This is incendiary, for very good reason. I mean, people should know about this.

I started trying curcumin in heroic doses. I "consumed" so much of this stuff that my fingernails turned curcumin color. If this stuff inhibits notch and mimics ly411575 then I've certainly "consumed" enough to make that happen.

I am beyond angry. "Learn to live with it" as a primary "treatment" paradigm.

ARE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MIND??

Also this was like legit my first thought when I first learned about this stuff soon after onset.

As much as we all despise the advice
"Learn to live with it,"
the fact remains that, to date, we have no treatments, nothing new,
nothing different.

my ear pain is back and i want to kill myself, the noxacusis goes away and comes back.

it cabn't be cured ufck my life. normies are okay with wearing ear plugs everywhere

i am in a very unstable mood and should not be using the forum today im just in the mood for complaining

Well yes but my point was that it shouldn't be held up as a "treatment". The fact that it's held up as such is absurd and greatly impedes progress imo.

Why wont cell regeneration heal noxacusis?
