Noxacusis (hyperacusis with pain)

Neurotrophic pain of the inner ear enabled by type II afferent nerve fibers
possibly due to widespread outer hair cell damage, and damage to the audiotory nerve.

Recruitment (loudness hyperacusis)

1:Neurological amplification of noise (damaged frequencies being amplified) (autism spectrum disorder/audiotory procesing disorders)

Noxacusis?: outer hair cell damage causing amplification of noise, possibly having the same trigger as noxacusis.

An excellent article on how so many (most?) doctors do not keep up with medical advances and how they use broken heuristics and flawed epistemology.

My takeaway is that I should look to the cutting edge e.g. biotech and just forget about what my stupid ENT says (after seeing that what he said is indeed stupid).

I wish the ATA would get shut down too. They're much more insidious than these random scam sites. The "American Tinnitus Association" is literally harmful to the cause of severe tinnitus.

Levo®®®® is not a "breakthrough treatment", what f*cking planet are these ATA idiots from?

They're just cringe content for me now and the FB groups. I was in mostly in all of them but left since they just seem to go in circles.

I heard the ATA is selling a tinnitus prevention vaccine. It's called listen to loud noise that sounds like your future tinnitus, retails for $4,995.
Same idea as Levo.

When I got tinnitus last year my GP told me it might go away but there are no guarantees and do not pay attention to it. My tinnitus was actually really mild then but actually super high pitch and more reactive.

I can't believe I didn't ask about my hyperacusis/pain and muffled hearing which was actually really bad at the time, I just assumed all pain would go away and it was only the first week, and I hadn't learned shit about hearing loss and though hearing would just come back, I'm kicking myself for not getting a predisone steroid of taking magnesium.

I made my first ENT appointment in January 2018 (2 months after acoustic trauma) to be informed about no having hearing loss. *sarcasn Obviously hearing did recover since then but some cochlear synaptopathy lasted permanently.

Oh how true this is. Without music there is nothing for me.
So how could such a spiritual thing be utterly dependent on our physical hearing? And gone!
It's unfathomable. What to do?

that's why i was suicidal even when i had mild noxacusis, even the slightest burning pain discouraged me from listening to music. glad it's gone.
