In a way that is fortunate I would say. Let´s hope this Mutebutton 2 carries us through to the hearing pills.

I put zero hope in Mutebutton now. It doesnt help hyperacusis and I can't risk it worsening my H further.

But seriously.......I am FED UP!......I was just starting to get better at coping with T and then pain hyperacusis get worse.......Why did I dare to think I could maybe have a life with this??!! I can't and it is obviously not meant for me......I am only meant to get worse. And hyperacusis won't be treated in my lifetime........nobody gives a (serious) damn about it, so I can't even put hope in a future treatment.

I am very plainly f*****
I'm taking it very seriously. You may not be f*******

Hello, I am terribly sorry about what you are experiencing, please make yourself at home on the forum as we wait for real treatments for these awful condition.

The best advice I have is to wait for a clinical trial that is going to regenerate cochlear hair cells to restore hearing.

Treating hearing loss should also treat tinnitus based on the model of tinnitus being the brain compensating for a loss of hearing and maybe hyperacusis (but no one knows for sure since pathologies of hyperacusis are not clear and it is suspected there are atleast two types of hyperacusis) So as more research emerges we will know more about hyperacusis.

More about hearing regeneration trial happening now

Other good news just for tinnitus is Neuromod and University of Michigan making brain stimulation devices to target tinnitus (and alleged neuromod claims it helps a certain type of hyperacusis) but once again research on hyperacusis is still young.

There are many that claim sound therapy cures hyperacusis but it is inconsistent, for example there are two forms of hyperacusis, even if your hyperacusis is gone you still have tinnitus and hearing loss that can only be addressed by pathetic hearing aids. The hearing aid industry is predatory and growing at a very fast place taking advantage of the fact that Otological science has been lagging horrendously, they are literally selling microphones/amplifies/earbuds as medical devices that don't address hearing loss in background, hyperacusis(s) and if you have reactive tinnitus hearing aids will only make your life more of a hell.

Let's hope the best for future treatment and not lose hope, don't bother wasting money on ENT's.

@Contrast you write the best responses. You are doing a service by publicizing this information so well.
One thing, Neuromod was not claimed helpful for hyperacusis itself - see the following clarification from Steve:

It doesn't treat hyperacusis. The effect that was observed was that in hyperacusis patients the reduction of their tinnitus was much greater than in other groups.

It was so thoughtful of the ATA to reach out to Neuromod and arrange a video interview of this possibly up-and-coming treatment, they really do a lot for us tinnitus sufferers.

Oh right.

So, after watching the Q&A. Neuromod should take those patient stories down and use the Q&A instead. That shit seems more real than those interviews. Got me sold anyway. In the world of T they basically namedropped any leading authority in the matter.

Would love to get my Hyperacusis gone but considering that works with this unit apparently getting rid of one thing is better than none I would say..Now to actually survive til one gets a hand on the unit itself.

@JohnAdams Why the sadness?

So what do you guys think of the Neuromod business?? I have feedback but I need to think things over first...

is your hyperacusis defined as ear pain, or loudness amplification or both?

how long have you had it?

no one in MPP even talks to each other, they just post lame image text memes and then go about their lives.

i'm the only one here with severe mental problems and i dont really have a life anymore and the one i did have was actually pretty pathetic by normie standards

Sorry m8. What do you want to talk about?

Well my H started to creep up slowly I think but didn't think of it then it all broke one day 4 months ago with T going up and H getting to insane levels. Also T started one ear, spread to both and added sounds during these months. Partly pain H.
My life right now compared to before would be a severe drop in life quality. Or correction. What life...
