It is the other way around.

Agree, it's what you get until you got it.

Then it owns you.

Then you realize you don't really own it until you give it away (to benefit others, paying it back).

Depending on your stage in life (beginning, middle or end).

This is my brain.... permeated with T.

He learned the hard way.

I am not sure what "It" you have in mind. For me, money provides the time during which I can be carefree. So it doesn't own me, and if I give it (carefree time) away (and go back to work), I won't gain anything.

Giving stuff away doesn't increase the time when I can be carefree, so it kind of doesn't count. The money that hasn't been given away can be spent on what Actually counts.

Who is this?

(In September 2015, (Mαrtιn) Shkrεli received widespread criticism when Turing obtained the manufacturing license for the αntiparαsitic drug Dαrαprim and raised its price by a factor of 56 (from US$13.5 to $750 per pill), leading him to be referred to by the media as "the most hated man in America" and "'Pharma Bro'".) -wiki

To be more obvious, the comment is regarding those infected with corporate greed.

The problem is that our society is Fucked UP. It is dying. It won't be long now.

What the Do-Gooders had undoubtedly achieved is that now companies will be less willing to develop new drugs. In a sane society those do-gooders would have been "the most hated people," for this reason alone (although of course there are other reasons - the mind-numbing immorality of them questioning the right of a company to choose any price they wish to sell their product for, comes to mind). Another thing that the do-gooders had achieved is that now companies will never experiment with selling their product at a low price (seeing how it will be impossible to raise this price later on if they learn that the profit-maximizing price is higher). They will just keep the price high. Thank you do-gooders.

I love it how the company that actually developed the life-saving drug is painted as the villain, and the literal enemies of the people are painted as whistle blowers.

Well for me it relates to a cure for tinnitus and hearing loss.

There is more money to be made my treating an illness for a lifetime than by curing it once and for all.

You are absolutely right - a monopolist would not be looking for a cure. However, if we have competition=capitalism, companies would be looking for the product preferred by the consumer. In this case, consumers prefer to be cured, so everyone ought to be looking for a cure (including the firm that has the monopoly on a lifetime management of T, as they won't want to lose everything once their competition finds a cure).

Yes, this is what the young people here have taught me. All these so called "cures" are bogus. They don't cure anything yet produce profits from our pockets.

These guys are demanding a cure. Enough is enough. Time to "prefer" a cure instead of accepting psychological pacifiers (trt/cbt).

Supply and demand. It's time to demand.

What are you talking about?

First you said that firms won't be looking for cures. Now you are saying that the existing treatments marketed as cures are not cures. It sounds like you are confused and can't tell a difference between legitimate firms and scam artists. Of course there are going to be scam artists, but they are easy to identify. Legitimate firms will have doctors prescribing their products to you, when you visit your doctor and ask for a cure. Also, a scam is something short lived, once a small number of people are fooled and reveal their experience to the others, the game is up.

If any of my words made you feel bad, I apologize.
No, you're fine.

Like all of us, I'm just tired of T and would like to see a cure sooner than later.

How come my Neurotologist, Otolaryngologist and Audiologist know nothing about current research for a cure.... I think I know why but can't adequately explain.

As long as they find out about it soon after the cure is officially released, it is fine, right?

If a cure is released many of them will find out about it by having an obsolete profession or not having a job.

Unfortunately not true for trt.

Not Neurotologists and Otolaryngologists. My ENT clearly felt like I was wasting his time. So those people would be happy that we will no longer bug them. Audiologists might lose their jobs if hearing loss can get completely reversed in 100% of the cases. But I doubt that will happen any time soon. If there is a cure for T, audiologists will not be affected.

My current hope is in PCA, fx-322, to restore hearing loss and if hearing loss is restored hopefully tinnitus will be reduced or eliminated.

There are many who profit from our desperation. Like those selling trt and other similar types of "cures". These people are the ones I wouldn't mind needing new professions or jobs. And if hearing loss is cured, not much need for audiologists.

What concerns me is that the status quo of the industry has nothing to gain by a cure being discovered. And this industry is powerful. I've lost confidence in the practice of medicine and pharmaceutical companies.

They are driven by profits, not cures.

Maybe I'm to much of a conspiracy theorist. I'd like to see more demand for a cure and less people accepting that which is currently offered.

I've paid a lot of money and received nothing of value.

But there are many people who say that TRT had helped them. In other words, if a cure is just a pipe dream, then the people who created TRT, are the only people who cared enough to help us. They would be doing something immoral if they were to promise silence and then not deliver. But they are very clear about what TRT is and isn't. They are clear that one will not hear silence as a result of TRT. The people get exactly what they expect from such a procedure. So if anyone is benefiting, it is the patients.

So they think with their head, are rational, and care about their own well being. They don't want to be your personal bitch, nor are they willing to be your slave and do stuff for you for free. What's the problem again?

Accusing others of being greedy and demanding that they get going and work for your benefit is NOT going to motivate those people to do stuff for you.

I guess you see me as a flaming libtard.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

"It's not you, it's me." I hear the sentiments that you voiced all of the time. Normally, I bite my tongue and do not engage. So this was an opportunity for me to get it off of my chest.

Well I hope you feel better, glad to be here for you.

However I've been a self employed capitalist my whole life. I get everything you said, my radio tuned to Limbaugh since the 90's...

Maybe you don't get what I've said. Maybe I didn't say it well enough. Or maybe I'm deranged.

Then how could you not be on the side of the man whose picture you had uploaded? I have always worked for the government, by the way. :)

Basically his business strategy was buying the rights of out of patent medicines and raising the prices 5000% (without the company developing any of its own drugs).

Markets for out of patent drugs are small and the regulatory approval to manufacture a generic version is expensive. He realized by owning the rights and having closed distribution meant no competition. So he raised the price of a life-saving drug which had previously sold for $13.50 per pill by over 5000% ($750 per pill).

Brilliant but considered corrupt by many, the epitome of greed.

damn can you imagine how crazy MPP will go if FX-322 actually works

Here is yet another cure for hearing loss in mammals not being promoted, this uses nasal derived stem cells.

"After transplantation into the inner ear, oe-NSCs not only survived, but also migrated around the spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs) in Rosenthal's canal (RC). Hearing loss induced by noise exposure was restored after oe-NSCs implantation. Mechanically, oe-NSCs secreted NGF and NT-3, which likely contributed to the prevention of neuronal injury. This study provides novel data in support of the effective action of implanted oe-NSCs in the restoration of noise-induced hearing loss in a rat model."

How were the stem cells implanted?????

"rats received an injection with oe-NSCs into the right ear."
