You are confusing my deep interest and passion that I have for tinnitus with ego. While you spend your time ridiculing me I help people affected with tinnitus in a deep and profound way.

I wish you would grow up because you are very childish and frankly I have had enough so goodbye.

The people in both groups just do what they feel like doing, without thinking about the consequences. Both ought to keep in mind that if they can't do the time/live for the rest of their life with louder tinnitus, they shouldn't do the crime. If this isn't the case, then what is it that I am missing?!

I think it doesn't apply to people who get Seriously distressed/suicidal as a result of their tinnitus.

I agree. However, you will also find that a lot of those people in time their life turns around because the tinnitus has improved. The most difficult period of my life with tinnitus was the 4 years it took me to habituate for the 2nd time. Clonazepam which so many people are afraid of helped me when nothing else would. I know it can be an addictive drug and for this reason it shouldn't be taken long term and a person should be closely monitored with the amount they take as I was. I managed to come through those 4 years and I'm here today. I have counselled people at the end of their tether with tinnitus but thankfully it improved. I say again this doesn't apply to everyone affected with tinnitus because each person is different.

You aren't a mind reader, so you have no idea about the intention motivating that hypothetical rapist. In any case, are drunk drivers any better than rapists? And drunk drivers provide a good analogy. They risk their own well being, as well as that of other people. Tinnitus folks are jeopardizing their family members' well being.

You keep saying you're going to put me on ignore Michael but it never seems to happen.

I actually do admire the time you spend helping people. I think the parents mention would be proud of that. I think you let yourself down with constant ridiculous ego driven squabbles with any member who contradicts you. I think that kind of mindset can be very damaging in life. I've met too many people like you.

I just don't understand how your reptilian mind doesn't feel the difference, thought experiments aside. Although your argument seems sound as it should

Also, am I not a mind reader? Are you not? Please take 7 grams of shrooms and report back. It might surprise you

I know the show, I love it :LOL: The funny thing is we have a suburb here in Melbourne called Brighton, and it is also by the sea and people from this area usually talk with that plum in their mouth

I have a wicked sense of humour as you know, but my last few posts might have come across as a tad violent, geez, I fried someone in one, and kangaroo punched in another, I am very placid really, well most of the time!

To show I am into spreading the love I am currently working on the riverside supper invitations with riparian entertainment, I'll be sending these out to Tinnitus Talk members shortly. Maybe we could just have a picnic by the sea :)
So @Michael Leigh, loosen your tie, put the kettle on, we are expecting coffee, Ill bring the scones.

If that fails jcb we can hit the pub, you can have a pint and I'll have half ;)

I love that episode with that gif you used  that's strange isn't it, I knew there was a Brighton over there but didn't know it was by the sea. It must be the sea air that messes with their brains and gives them delusions of grandeur??

Funny thing is, I know more about Michael than he thinks haha he's common as muck that's why this online persona he's made up makes me laugh Even more so, anyway enough of his lordship for now haha

I know you are not mean I think everybody does :) those gifs were funny and done in jest, and loved your little line about upper side supper, hyacinth bucket would be proud. Its all fun and he doesn't help himself. A pint sounds good especially real cider, it's a deal.

Poor MMP don't know what's hit them with all us in here

Thank you for the warm invitation and I would be delighted to have coffee and scones with you. Although I now live in Brighton and absolutely love it here, I was born and bred in London. My accent or the way I speak, is natural and do not pretend to be something that I am not. I never thought I would live by the sea and it's something that came about due to tinnitus and an Author, called Peter James, born and bred in Brighton.

I was unable to read a book for two years because of severe tinnitus which I have explained in my post: My experience with tinnitus: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/my-experience-with-tinnitus.12076/ in 2010 I tried to return to reading but found it very difficult because of the tinnitus which had changed since 2008 to high fluctuations in intensity. No two days were the same. Every book I tried reading I couldn't get passed the first chapter so just gave up. I become very miserable and thought my life was over as I enjoy reading immensely.

I happened to be looking at some books on Amazon and read a sample of a book written by the author Peter James whom I have never read. I ordered the first book in the Roy Grace series, Dead Simple . Roy Grace is a fictional Detective Superintendent who lives and works in Brighton. The book took 5 weeks to read due the huge fluctuations in tinnitus daily. I was only able to concentrate on reading when the tinnitus was at a level I could cope with. I enjoyed the book and the author's writing style which is unique and nothing like I had encountered before in other authors.

I read the second, third and fourth book in the series and was thoroughly gripped by the author's writing style and the way he painted picturesque views of Brighton and the surrounding seaside towns. After book 5 I wrote to Peter James, explaining how much I enjoyed reading his books and mentioned my tinnitus and the difficulties I had with it, being unable to read for two years and thanked him.

Around the same time I was looking to move and wrote to PJ after reading book seven. I asked him for advice of nice locations to live in Brighton which he gladly provided. He mentioned no-one had ever asked that of him and hoped his advice wouldn't come back to haunt him if, I moved to a location that he recommended and didn't like it!

I came to Brighton often to view locations and attended PJ book signings. Moved here in 2014 and glad I did.

I know I would never get used to it. I also know that some/most people can get used to it. For them - it might be "mental".

This is like saying "if you want to be happy, be happy." Some people require their life to be objectively good in order to be happy. Others can be happy even when their life is objectively bad. I think what determines what group one is in is 99% nature/genetics and 1% nurture/mental.
Me neither. I've lived at my current place for about 4-5 years and I still hear the noise from the neighbours and cars going by outside. I just don't have that normal functioning brain filter that the majority have.

You should share your position with the other patriarchs, 3fire4 and contrast. You can claim apostolic succession as well as "first among equals". It's mostly about more bling and an awesome beard though.
I don't care. Although I wouldn't mind having the title of Metropolitan.

C'mon - he is a fellow tinnitus sufferer. The two of you might not agree, but I still don't think this calls for a personal attack. The other person has enough to deal with.
He has invaded this thread and is just being a snob and telling everyone they are too stupid to understand him. Tinnitus or not, that's just rude.

Tinnitus has the ability to turn even the best of us into cynical bastards at times.
As long as we 'eventually' make up, and recognise the common enemy, there's not usually too much harm done.

Oh, how I wish I could write what I think about you. But I have self control, and I am compelled to keep this civil.

Please do not succumb to the lower forms of yourself like others in this forum that choose to debase themselves. You have been well brought up adhere and stick to these principles. Manners makes and man and a woman and helps to carry us through life....
