Oh just a heads up, the mods I hear, have been getting complaints that MPP is always the recently bumped thread, so they stopped any thread I made from being bumped onto the front page.

They're afraid of the meme power. If they let it continue, it will grow too large to be controlled.

On a more serious note, we let this experiment grow all the way to the third biggest thread on the site. Not to mention there's only like 3-4 people that sustain this growth. Ands it's all about memes. I'm not surprised they're annoyed.

Yeah it's true we really only have 5 or so regular posters. And me, Champ, and Contrast are the biggest OC producers. Even though the producer base is tiny, we get 500 views a day, and it's impossible for the 5 of us to be supplying that. Other nonposters frequent the thread too. We're the fastest growing thread on the site because we're the most popular thread. A more upbeat and unique thread from the rest of the site is nice every now and then. Not to mention we're the one area that shilling habituation is discouraged, so we're a good alternative to that too.

"Shilling habituation is discouraged"

Good. This term needs to be thrown out now. All it does is encourage people to ignore the issue and thus brings us to 2018 with no viable solutions.

After a quick look at how the TRI went, it's obvious what the tinnitus community's problem is. When people can sell literally nothing like it's an actual product or solution, there's no real drive to look for an actual solution.

Kind of reminds me of this actually:

This "experiment" is the most fun thread on the site. I love TinnitusTalk before it too, but there's no place to let loose on the site. I like to think of this thread as an open art display where people can say or post content they normally haven't throughout the rest of the site.

Originally I made that so I could do that (hence MY posting place) but I'm glad others enjoy it too.

Also, See you fam
This one hurts... badly. I'm in a world of hell right now and there's no escape. I feel like I'm climbing those exact stairs with no end in sight. I know in the game you can just turn around and leave but I don't have this luxury. I hope Frequency gets this right because I can't deal with this crap. Knowing I'll never be able to enjoy a game like this anymore because of HL or just any movie really makes me really depressed. Sorry for the sad post. This one got the feels going.

In the tinnitus models, increased neuronal gain causes spontaneous neuronal activity to be amplified to such a degree that it crosses the perception threshold and thus gives rise to the phantom sound. As such an increase in neuronal gain will also cause amplification of sound-evoked activity, one might speculate that it could lead to a certain degree of hyperacusis. However, the gain increases in the tinnitus models are quite specific in that they first depend on the degree of hearing loss, and increased gain is thus confined to frequencies where hearing loss is present. Second, the gain increases in the tinnitus models amplify both spontaneous as well as evoked neuronal activity. Whether such a specific "tinnitus gain" can also explain the phenotype of hyperacusis seen in patient data remains to be determined.
