i just got done riding the medical carousel and I still dont know what the fuck is wrong with me exactly and it's already too late.

@Contrast why so pessimist? This new Lenire product is breaking ground and there's more research going on than ever before... I'm trying to be hopeful... you should too...

:puppykisses:
He has other problems that aren't related to tinnitus. I really feel for him and hope whatever the issue is can be cured.

He should very much do his activism for that other health problem on a chat forum dedicated to that health problem if there is a forum dedicated to his other health problem. I hope it isn't cancer :(

It's not time to give up yet!!
It stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It's pretty similar to CBT but not TRT.
I will look into it... but I need something that dials down the loudness...

Nobody knows what it is, but it could either be hard or very hard to fix.

ACT doesn't really have a point for tinnitus tbh. It can be applied to it, but the Tinnitus market is already saturated with a million terrible habituation therapies nobody really cares about. Loudness treatments are beginning to surface so it's definitely best to keep an eye on those, even if you don't like Lenire.

You have no idea what I am dealing with, that has nothing to do with my ears.

ACT is a hyper maculinzed version of CBT that tells sufferers of painful diseases to get the fuck over it.

When there is no cure, is nothing really better than the help to try to minimize the psychological impact the disease has on the patient?
Or they could just admit they can't help instead of trying to have an answer for everything.

At the very least they should up front distinguish between their psychotherapy being a "treatment" for stress and not tinnitus. It is really infuriating that they call these things a treatment for tinnitus.

It's like having a broken down car and a mechanic not being able to fix it coming up and saying "I can help you with your car problems" and proceeding to try to make you fell better about walking and taking the bus, and charging you money for it.

Omg. That is the perfect analogy.

That is my main argument with Fishbone and Michael Leigh and the establishment in general. They refuse to separate and distinguish between the terms. It is dishonest. You would never call psychotherapy a cancer treatment, so why are tinnitus people doing that?

All I am doing is advocating for a truth based approach to describing these things.

Depression is a biochemical imbalance in the brain.

Yet, universally, CBT and psychotherapy are considered treatments for depression (just like SSRIs are).

hidden hearing loss is my LEAST concern now. It never went away fully but it wasn't worth killing myself over because once the burning ear pain went away I became stable. NOW IM IN FUCKING REAL DESPAIR WITH MY NEW HEALTH PROBLEM KILLING ME

regenerative biology is a fairytale it's not going to happen. CBT and ACT will reign for centuries as the dominate treatment for painful diseases. Even if the major CBT, ACT and TRT goons disappeared SOMEONE would take their place. If TRT never existed some other quackery would take it's place.

lol if you think that human civilization that still includes "reading" and "machines" will still be a thing in 200 years

teach your kids how to make fire with sticks and how to stay perfectly still at the top of a tree for days straight. how to purify contaminated water. how to produce high quality cannabis and whiskey using only things that can be found in a desert

also CBT by numbers at least in the US is a distant second or third for pain treatment, behind "narcotics", "benzodiazepines" and "weird offlabel drugs"
