I was born to be a product :clown:

It has already been shown demonstrably that Windows and Mac phone home. You can shout this from the roof top and you have literal proof and nobody cares. The reason Microsoft doesn't kill Win32 is because very important corporations are extremely depedent on it. Running ancient mission critical software is what top level companies do. I predicted in 2016 that Microsoft would made win32 subscription based for corporate clients and give normies a UWP toy OS.

meanwhile.... I was right.

Win32 (all traditional application support) are the only redeeming quality about Windows 10 that makes it into a A+++ tier workstation. What is the point of using Windows if it becomes a toy to compete with Google's spyware Linux. Chrome OS is based on Linux, but it's locked down Google spyware without the GNU free software ecosystem. It's obvious normies will buy whatever Google, Apple and Microsoft shit out. This is literally doomsday tier shit to me, but normies don't realize anything wrong.

My next prediction is that Microsoft breaks the Office format compatibility intentionally and that Office 365 subscriptions is the only way to use MSoffice without hassle. It's slowly in the process of becoming a reality.

I agree. The reality is no one ever needs to upgrade again (the programs are already great) but they want that sweet sweet cash so...

David Chalmers, Phillip Goff, Donald Hoffman and other philosophers like them are based Chads and that's why Neil Degrasse Tyson hates philosophy.

Non-physicist philosophers have absolutely no qualifications to talk about quantum physics, duh... but they are all saying the same thing. Science has been stuck on the quantum measurement problem for about a hundred years without a proper explanation, because they refuse to admit consciousness has something to do with it. They aren't getting anywhere because they refuse to study the link between consciousness and particle physics. They want to hold onto the dogma instead of following the evidence.

Based and red pilled.

All the files and sensitive data on my hard drive, iphone and other ithings are backed up on the private, secure iCloud. I trust Apple with my data!!!!

this old piece of software from 1998 can make wonderful gifs. I'm probably it's most skilled user as literally no one F*ckin knows about it.

So, if the world is a simulation,
Explain how lines of code telling a machine what to do can emulate our reality?

These futurist that talk about mind uploading or virtual universes inside computers are all making a radical assumption that computation can create emergent properties. There is no evidence that computation can simulate mental or physical reality and the "futurist" on the science channel love to speculate about it doing both. Lay people like us watch this BS and think it's genuine science when it's wild speculation.

Futurist get tons of criticism because they talk about things like space travel, mind uploading, time machines, worm holes. Nothing realistic. Be skeptical of them as they are more public entertainers then scientist. They are the ones that spread the meme that mentality is computational.

The guy who would rather pay $52 dollars a month then spend the weekend learning to use alternative software. He doesn't want to read the manual or hang out on the community forums. After all paying so computers get out of the way is what normies do. It's okay if Adobe logs telemetry because they own it and he has nothing to hide. He only uses 5% of the features Adobe offers but that's okay because at least he saves time and time is money.

I have the perfect rant for @Contrast. Today, I bought YouTube TV and kept getting the error that I needed licensing. I kept reinstalling, updating, and getting told that chrome couldn't update. The problem ended up being that my shortcut on my taskbar was being opened in "non-administrative" mode. What a joke.

Doesn't Windows run everything in admin mode by default unless you use a restricted account?

The Youtube TV might be spying on you and your family. I prefer to use Youtube through a invidious client that prevents as much Google services as possible from loading .

You cannot be serious about privacy if you use Windows 10. Unless you block Microsoft updates at the router firewall level.

January 2018.

Windows Vista support ended April 2017. The last Firefox extended support release was still going but most likely you have an example of someone non-tech literate using the dated Internet Explorer that shipped with Vista. I wonder if the reason the page wouldn't load the download dialog was because of him using a dated browser?

Have you ever tried Parrot OS?
I do not distro hop anymore because I realized most Linux distros are the same thing with different desktop environments and software. I use a highly customized Linux Mint Cinnamon install. I have been using the same Linux Mint install for over a year without a clean install despite changing software and looks frequently. If I want software from another distro that is specific I know how to build it or find the package prepacked. If I want to change how my setup looks I can do that easily. From what I can see Parrot OS is based on Debian. It ships with the KDE desktop and MATE and focuses on security. So in a nutshell it's Debian just with special packages OOTB. Nothing special.

Once you learn how Linux works distros make little sense outside of the release cycle software is on. I might end up switching to Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.04 or 20.10 soon so I can keep upstream with packages on the six month cycle instead of adding third party repos and building to get new software. No matter what I only use distros based on Ubuntu.

If you are interested in privacy it doesn't matter what distro you use. It's about what software you use.

Browser Addons play a huge role. These addons prevent tracking along with using Firefox ESR with About:config changes.

I also use aternative search engines like DuckDuckGo, Qwant, SearchX. Filters for Youtube and Twitter like Nitter and the Invidious client. These things make it so even idiots like me can be secure online. I also change my useragent to blend in with normies using Chrome/Win10.

upload_2020-8-18_19-25-22.png

It would be saying Firefox ESR on Ubuntu if it wasn't for the user agent changer addon. This helps me blend in with the masses.

Yeah, it's good to become familiar with one distro. Ubuntu is as good a pick as any.

I just thought Parrot saved a user a lot of work or offered ideas.

I tried Linux Mint a long time ago. I thought it was too behind Ubuntu.

I haven't been following what's changed as I need a new computer.

The reason I don't like Mint Cinnamon's defaults is because I have shitty graphics driver and Nemo the file manager that bundles with the cinnamon desktop has enormous memory leaks when working with image folders. Others have not experienced the bug and told me it might have to do with the fact that my notebook uses integrated graphics. Which is fundamentally bad hardware setup. Yet they still admit Nemo is very slow to load large image folders, just no freezing. I simply make Linux Mint Cinnamon better by replacing nemo with the caja file manager simply by setting caja as my default and using the command
Code:
caja --no-default-window --force-desktop
.
