I sat there with the person who was like prescribing me shit. And I was legit like, okay, you're treating me for an ear ache. My ears are sensitive, my hearing is muffled, shit is too loud, I can barely even hear YOU, I'm suffering through hearing loss, you can't prescribe me that? And then he went and said all of that stuff, and I was like, have you ever suffered from hearing loss/damage? And he was like, not that I know of. And I was like, well, educate yourself from this point on. And he was like, okay ma'm. AND NOT ONLY THAT after that, they didn't even give me the meds for the ear ache he was going to prescribe me... He had another person come to speak me and discharge me?????

I've always been meh at the health system because of prior family situations, but going through it like seriously on my own - wooo boy, this takes the cake.
tfw you realize it's not about capitalism vs socialism in healthcare but rather quality of medicine and the scientific research put into it.

Why can't we just call and ENT and schedule an appointment to get our ear injected with IGF-1? What's the friggen deal here?

Seriously people, why isn't the BTA or ATA drawing attention to this?

The difference in changes in pure-tone average hearing thresholds over time between the two treatment groups was found to be statistically significant (p ＝ 0.003). In this trial, no adverse events were observed. The findings of this trial suggest that IGF1 is an effective treatment for SSHL and that IGF1 is a similar or superior therapy compared with intra-tympanic Dex therapy."

This was publish in 2015 AND IT WAS FROM A HUMAN CLINICAL TRIAL. If the damn BTA or ATA were ACTUALLY LEGITIMATE, MANY OF US MAY WOULDN'T EVEN BE HERE TODAY!!!!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE??????

The ATA and BTA are playing games. They don't care about us. Our lives are being ruined one by one and they act like there's no treatment for hearing loss and there is. I have proved this. If we could go to the doctor upon initial onset of our tinnitus and get IGF-1 injections 2/3rd's of us wouldn't be in this situation right now.
From the above mentioned study :
"The secondary outcome measures included changes in pure-tone average hearing thresholds over time and the incidence of adverse events. In the IGF1 group, 66.7% (95% CI, 52.9e78.6%) of the patients showed hearing improvement compared to 53.6% (95% CI, 39.7e67.0%) of the patients in the Dex group."
66.7% is two-thirds. There is a cure for acute stage hearing loss that is effective in two-thirds of the people it was tested on
