My Posting Place

@threefirefour

You don't need a poll in order to get me to leave MPP. Please take note of the following: JohnAdams tagged me here I didn't attend on my own accord. If you and the rest of your cohorts agree to keep away from me and stop posting derogatory comments on threads that I create or posts that I summit in this forum, then I will keep away from this place and leave you to yourselves. However, if any of you breach this then I will return. I will not lower myself to use the kind of language that the rest of you are accustomed to. I will be respectful and show manners and above all teach positivity and tinnitus.

Goodbye
Michael

Alright I'm sorry about that

I'm really sorry I'm not well versed in the scientific aspect of things when it comes to hearing loss and that is what you are ultimately seeking...

TV and music are both compressed. Modern audio is compressed more than ever in most cases. A large part of this is "brickwalling" the audio attracts the most attention from the brain. Especially commercials. That's why sometimes you go from watching a show at reasonable volume to suddenly being bombarded by loud commercials.

Natural speech in noise doesn't have this compression. The dynamic range is there. Plus you can situate yourself and the speaker in a quieter area or move them closer to you. So you can affect individual parameters of the environment. Also the 360 degree element of where sound is coming from in the environment vs in most cases what I'm guessing your listening to television and music in stereo vs 5.1 or 7.1 surround (if there is an alternate mix to accommodate those features) where things would be mixed differently and sounds separated further into the additional channels making them easier to distinguish.

I don't know if any of what I'm contributing here or your other thread helps you to be able to do the localizing but I'm trying.
Thank you for this. I'm going to do an experiment and do something i haven't done since my hearing loss: see a movie in a cinema and see if it sounds clearer.

If you are talking about TRT or CBT, there are many testimonials from people who claim that it has helped them. In the absence of treatments, it is a good idea to let newbies know about TRT and CBT.

I got better from noise induced pain without any therapy. The hearing in my right ear is still off though but it notably improved in the course of 2017 to 2018.

Joyce documented many cases of individuals with noxacusis (noise induced pain) who did NOT improve from TRT and even get worse from it or bad advice such as using headphones or going to concerts.

In cases of people recovering TRT may take credit for the bodies own ability to heal itself because nerves can slowly heal over the course of a year so.

You talk about truth but you want us to keep the truth about you?

The more I look at it the more I realize the CBT'ers have done more to dethrone Jastreboff's TRT then anyone. It's doing the same thing for several thousand dollars less.

Straight up. they both suck for tinnitus but it's good when the enemy destroys itself.

In a good world, CBT would destroy TRT, then when we get a treatment doctors would recommend that because CBT isn't specific to tinnitus like TRT is.

Palliative treatments should be least expensive as possible so more money can be put aside for curative research. TRT is an example of a palliative option with an insane cost that also has controversial results and dogma holding back scientific progress.

CBT has none of those problems.

It's still true CBT is an annoying monopoly dominating the field but it should be easier for tinnitus sufferers to raise awareness to make sure money is spent wisely on both CBT and biomedical research. The BTA even said that researchers and CBT'ers work alongside one another.

Well that and the ATA at its beck and call certainly doesn't help.
The BTA was pressured by the community and changed their ways.

The ATA is literally the reason why TRT became a US Gold standard. Dr. Nagler and William Shatner played a role in making TRT a gold standard in the 90's. They meant well but well intentions proved harm.

I think we know your name by now. There is no need to sign it on every post of yours. After all it is in your avatar.
@threefirefour has asked me to stay away from MPP and I have agreed, providing he and the rest of his cohorts and you all know who you are, leave me alone. That means not posting any derogatory comments on threads that I create or posts that I submit. If this is breached then I will return.

If you wish to contact me then do so in the main forum or PM. Regarding signing my name at the end of each post: I write each post as if I am writing a letter and feel it is not correctly finished unless I sign my name.

Goodbye
Michael

Hi @Michael Leigh , I admit to not being the most avid listener of classical music, but I'm curious: is there really any reason to seek out anything performed by other composers since recordings with Herbert von Karajan at the helm already exist?

I now believe that we should not even speak of a cure, because face it, it isn't going to ever happen, not in 1,00 years. If tinnitus is bothering you, you should seek the professional help of an ENT. Also, look into trained CBT and TRT specialists to guide you into a specialized care routine.

@JulianBrumbelow
I'm really surprised and happy that you joined MPP it definitely cheered me up with all the horrible stuff I'm going through. I guess we can make show sites together again for a while while I'm still here!
