My Run in With A Train — Seeking Opinion

So just a random thought and question here from a not so fun sound experience that I was having today....

I (I have moderate T and milder H) was driving home today from school and was going around a little off ramp when all of a sudden I heard a "Tooo Tooot" and quickly realized that a train was right in front of my car (about 50meters away) as it runs below the off ramp.

Since I was in the turn around, I couldn't really plug my ears, but still managed to plug one while I driving and quickly spread away!

All in all the horn only went off for a second or two but it made me jump and felt a little uncomfortable there to say the least.

I was wondering if:

a.) Do you guys thing that it the horn did any damage? Or did being in the car take the edge off you think?

b.) Does anyone take any precautions from outside sounds when driving?

Usually i look at it the same way that your avatar says (shit happens). You just gotta roll with it sometimes.
