My sister (whom I haven't seen or spoken to in about a year) randomly stopped by my house today. Of course, I was a mess and eventually told her about my tinnitus. She said back in December she woke up to excruciating pain in her ear, couldn't hear, and had ringing and clicking in that ear. She waited a couple days to go to the emergency room where they told her she had a really bad ear infection that had caused 2 holes in her eardrum. They put her on antibiotics and steroids. After 12 weeks her hearing was back to normal and the ringing and clicking were gone. She hasn't had any issues since.

I just wanted to put this out there for people experiencing the same thing.

I seriously wish I demanded the doctor give me steroids in first couple of weeks. Too late. But great news for your sister and thanks for sharing!

This tells us reversing hearing loss solves tinnitus in some cases

It's time to put the old narrative of learning to live with tinnitus aside focus on the science of hearing restoration which will be a possibility in the mid 2020's if we are smart and put research before habituation related ideas.

Frequency Therapeutics host an active clinical trial for fixing a main biological cause of hearing loss by regenerating cells necessary for hearing. Read on their website about the method it's super promising. Hopefully this can kill two birds "tinnitus and hearing loss" with one stone however we won't know until stage two clinical trials begin.

help is on the way.
