Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown
After having a severe case of tinnitus for a few years, I was healed. I now have only a barely noticeable ring in one ear when I am in total silence. I can sleep normally again. Here is the story of my miracle.

I am not certain exactly why, but perhaps my case of tinnitus and hyperacusis was caused by multiple factors: my own sins, injury (I first had a surge after using a red light laser on my ear for a scar), infection (perhaps fluid from a previous infection remained in my inner ears for a few years), toxicity (anesthesia from cosmetic surgeries), stress (death of several loved ones within short period of time, heavy responsibility), surgery (near ears), illness (developed anemia from heavy period blood loss for a number of months - I could have tried the natural hormone progestin prescription for a week or so which would have stopped the bleeding but I left it too long without seeing a doctor), nerves (fears etc), poor diet (caffeine, sugar, processed food), unhealthy habits, outdoors in winter without warm enough head coverings, too loud noise and perhaps a former head injury (concussion many years ago when I was drunk and hit my head on a hard floor).

I initially got some moderate noise in one ear and went to an ENT who prescribed a nasal steroid for a week. The ENT said it was not earwax blockage. To prevent that issue, my doctor told me to pour a few drops of oil once a month in the ears to soften earwax so it will come out naturally, and never use Q-tips as they can damage ears. My tinnitus went away and then came back worse and added loud ringing in the other ear - I was upset to find out that one side effect of the steroid listed was ringing in the ears. I asked for am MRI on my brain to rule out brain tumour and it was fine. The ENT told me there was no cure, learn to live with it and it's all in your head. I decided to turn to God and believe that I would not be healed. I had my hearing tested twice. The first time said one ear had minor hearing loss. The second time with a different ENT showed my hearing was fine. Second ENT diagnosed it as idiopathic (no known cause) Eustachian tube disorder. I found out later that she does ear tube surgery for fluid in inner ears - although I was healed before trying that.

I am Christian Catholic and a strong believer in God. I put my trust in His healing power, love and mercy. I went to receive the Sacraments - General Confession, Communion. I made sure I got into a state of grace and repented of sin. I began to better live according to God's Ten Commandments and the precepts of the Church. I also received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick - I felt tinnitus was serious enough to warrant it because my quality of life was getting ruined by this disease. The Anointing gave me the strength as I hit rock bottom. I tried to repent of anything I may have done to have caused this. I found prayer in silence difficult due to the noise, but I persevered and would pray the Rosary on walks in nature. I went to daily Mass.

I made sure to do my best to stop anything demonic that may have caused this or wanted to attack me and prevent healing. I got salt and oil exorcised and used them on my food daily. I blessed myself and my bed with holy water daily. I prayed the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel daily at the end of my daily Rosary. I wore the brown scapular or the four way scapular medal blessed.

Oil of the Good Samaritan - after trying this for about 2 weeks I was almost 100% cured. It is an essential oil blend ("thieves" oil) that is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal. It contains essential oils of clove, eucalyptus, rosemary, lemon and cinnamon oil and you dilute them 1:5 in a carrier oil such as olive oil (mineral oil is not really effective). I got it blessed and exorcised by a Catholic priest. I put a pindrop on my ear lobes or behind my ears in the crease near the bottom where near the top of the lobe in the morning and in the evening. It also protected me from getting COVID-19 and seemed to help against other allergies. The recipe for making the Oil is available here.

Before I used the Oil of the Good Samaritan, these are some of the supplements I tried:

Antioxidants - Glutathione, Quercetin, N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine.

Detox - milk thistle.

For nerves and brain - vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin - not cyanacobalamin, 5,000-10,000 daily), AOR Biofolate (folic acid), AOR coenzyme B6 P-5-P, AOR cardio-magnesium, Metagenics Bone Builder with magnesium, CoQ10 (Ubiquinol).

For immunity - Wild Oil of Oregano drops (to prevent infections or if I feel I am getting one), Zinc piccolinate.

St. Francis Farms Ashwaganhda (to help with stress and anxiety), Phosphatidyl Choline, Omega 3 (Wild Pacific Salmon Oil).

For bad insomnia due to the noise or stress - Sweet Dreams liquid Melatonin before bed (it does not have the hangover effects as bad as some other Melatonin supplements). I don't take it after 2 am as it may make groggy next day.

I tried the homeopathic pellets for tinnitus - took less, maybe 3 pellets once or twice daily.

I took other supplements but they were getting too expensive. For a while I tried Tinnitus 911, it did something too. I stopped it after the trial period. I also tried their detox and probiotics at the same time I think for 3 or 6 months.

Diet - I cut out caffeine TOTALLY and permanently. I was 100% healed, but then I drank coffee for a week again on a vacation, and my tinnitus returned at 1-2/10. If I ever have coffee now if I feel I might fall asleep on a 5-hour drive, it causes louder ringing and I get insomnia. If I had not touched caffeine again, I may have stayed 100% healed.

I now wear warm hats in winter, sometimes double hats with a hood when really cold. I wear a warm hat indoor when it's too cold for comfort.

We kept the house fan on all night because the noise helped me to sleep. When my noise was too bad to sleep, I went down to the couch, propped up head with wedge pillow and slept right near a vent. I prayed the Rosary until I drifted off. Our Lady interceded for the grace I needed to bear this horrible disease and for healing. I asked my husband to pray over me and he would say 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and 1 Glory Be to get me through the worst times.

I believed in retraining my brain - basically if the brain is manufacturing a noise that is not really there, it can eventually be fixed.

Hypnosis - A hearing centre I researched and found out that it is morally licit to undergo hypnosis with a certified therapist. I found a free session online by Dr. Gary a certified therapist and listened to it a few times. I found it hopeful, calming and helpful.

Music - sometimes I played calming music while working to help to block out the ringing in one ear and the whooshing noises in the other.

You are loved by God. Sometimes illness comes and we are not at fault, but there are things we can do to get healed. I promised I would make a posting if I got healed. I believe that God had mercy on me and healed me. The hyperacusis is gone. The tinnitus is gone. At times I notice a very light barely soft ring in one ear or a ring for only 20 seconds a couple times a year. Thank God for my miracle. The greatest gift is knowing that He loves us all. He is forgiveness and we have a Saviour. In Heaven we will only hear the most beautiful sounds. Praise be to Jesus Christ!

Thanks for sharing your story, @Hope and Healing. I am also a believer in Jesus Christ and know He can provide healing. I have seen unexplainable miracles happen on more than one occasion. Most recently, I had a badly infected ulcer that the doctor insisted needed antibiotics. I didn't want to take them, though, because of my severe tinnitus/hyperacusis. After a week of prayer, the ulcer began to miraculously clear and the doctor was baffled.

How bad was your hyperacusis? And how loud was your tinnitus? I am dealing with debilitating tinnitus and hyperacusis, too, at the moment. I have been praying for relief. Can you please pray for me, too? Thank you and glad to hear God released you from this. Tinnitus and hyperacusis can take an otherwise amazing life and turn it completely on its head.

But as your testimony shows, no problem is too big for God. He is the ultimate physician, healer, and doctor.

Thanks for the share and glad you are well. In reading your story, I couldn't tell when your tinnitus actually went away. Could you clarify that aspect?

Glad to hear you are doing better. What steroid spray were you using?

I'm praying for you too Jerad.

Too bad he wasn't available when my nephew died of cancer age 7.
That's sad and I'm sorry to hear that, man. I understand why you would feel that way, as I've had trouble reconciling the extreme suffering of noxacusis and tinnitus myself. But according to biblical accounts, this is a fallen world with heartache, suffering, and disease due to sin. Sometimes god intervenes in our earthly lives and sometimes he doesn't. But he was still available for your nephew, ultimately, when he took him to a far better place... a place of bliss and love. If you could talk to him today, he'd tell you how happy he is to be there. If we could all go there now, we wouldn't miss this earth, just its people. But we'd long to be reunited with them someday in heaven.

Losing a loved one is never easy, especially when a life is cut tragically short, like a child's, but you can have assurance that he's in paradise now. Not everyone will believe in heaven, but I do and would bet everything on it. I've seen things in this world that defy explanation — paranormal things — and I know there's an afterlife.

I once saw a picture fly off the wall and — in an adjacent room — a light fixture come unscrewed on its own. It was just left dangling from the ceiling. Several people also heard phantom voices in the same house to corroborate this activity, including myself. I know reputable people who have seen ghosts, too... family members that would never lie about such things. If there's a spiritual realm, there must be a god, in my opinion; and the documented accounts that surround exorcisms and demonic spirits further prove that Jesus is a force to be reckoned with in the spiritual realm. If he wasn't real, why would the spirits bow to him? So that's just my 2 cents.

Even though I'm not religious at all - I do not believe there is a god, anywhere - I still appreciate your kind words. I wish you all the best.

This is so great to hear! I've also been praying so much for my own miracle healing! Or healing through medicine! God's answer is not yet, but I'm keeping faith and hope! Enjoy your miracle! Praise God! ♥️
