Tinnitus Since
11/11/2014
Was present for about 2 months but has now completely disappeared.

Probable cause was noise induced.

Started as a high pitch whistle and then a hissing. Occasional H.

Started to fade at about 6 weeks and now has completely gone.

Didn't do anything specific to help (wish i could help everyone here and say i did x,y,z but i just got better). thought about signing up for AM101 but didn't proceed as it had disappeared.

Hopefully it won't reoccur.

This is an amazingly supporting forum and I wish you all the best.

On to new health problems now!

Don't know if you gonna come back for a reply since T is gone. But was your T from clubbing?

We have been saying to new T sufferers that their T may fade or just disappear and they shouldn't panic too much. Your success story just proves that. Congrats.

Excellent news! But remember to always wear ear protection, especially since you did have tinnitus. It t is likely you have some auditory damage, and you don't want to worsen it by not practicing common sense.

Good luck and may you forever live in the sweet land of silence! :cat:

The statistic I recall is that approximately 75% or so of new onsets will resolve in a few months. The fact that @tom1989 is aware, now, of what may occur, if careless, should serve him well. Good luck!
I think every teenager should suffer from artificial tinnitus for a week or two just to learn why they should protect their hearing. It would be brutal yet very effective way to educate! :sneaky:

This gives me hope! Im starting am-101 soon.. Maybe i shouldn't. Such a hard decision... We will do anything to get rid of this.. If it does go away im going to support tinnitus talk and everything tinnitus the rest of my life. Tinnitus has opened my eyes to what some people have to suffer with.

I've heard a few stories like that. All only among people that my mom knows personally. If we asked further, just imagine what a data base of positive stories that would be. In the vast majority of cases T backs off..There's always hope. It may take years though and that 's what sucks. If you're not a successful story yourself, why not posting about those you've heard of? No matter where it is, as long as it's a real human story, that gives a huge hope ! Especially among those who are young , I believe. Since I have some hearing loss, my obsession is to find people who also have hearing loss and who got rid off T. And guess what, I found quite a few. Only, once more, in my tiny circle of aquitances. The truth is most people won't go on the net to talk about it.
I know about an elderlry lady who got T after a flight, most probably. She's a doctor. Tried to live as if nothing happened. A few months later it was just a bad memory. Hearing loss included.
Ehh, I've heard of quite a few others, then I read about even more in my home land ( Poland ). I know on the one hand it may be frustrating ( why not me then ?) but for me it's just such a load of hope. This Sh..is not there to stay forever. Except for the very few maybe...which is terrible. I wish with all my heart that nobody has to go through it. I would keep it as a punishment for the worst criminals.

I'm glad that the T is no longer your constant 'companion'. All my reading, from reputable books/articles, says that if the T has been present for less than 6 months, in all likelihood it was only temporary and won't return. So that's good news for you indeed.

I think the thing here is T can spontaneously go within the first 6 months, after that it has mor chance of sticking but can still go after 6 months.

Congrats. If it was truly noise induced be cautious. It may repair itself the first few times but may become permanent down the road if you subject yourself to loud noise/environments. Noise damage is cumulative.
