I've had tinnitus for about 8 years, but this summer my tinnitus has become so much louder. Tinnitus didn't bother me, until now. It's so loud, I hear it all the time and nothing can mask it anymore. I'm going crazy, I don't know what i should do... I'm feeling so tired. I am only 19 years old.

So sorry to hear this Leo, have you tried taking magnesium chelate supplements, does help reduce the volume , also some online forum people are putting 4/5 drops of sesame oil in the ears for 5 minutes each. Avoiding white sugar and spicy foods and red chilli etc helps me.

Hi ..don't worry it will subside .have you tied to mask it with white noise ?
Stay away from music/loud noise .
Most people will tell you here that their T volume does go down after it flared up .

First off are you see an ENT or family Dr. Are you taking any benzos? Valium etc.. they will help take the edge off until you get a grip..

I have the same scenario - the past week has been completely crazy - i am just trying to baby my ears, not get exposed to ANY kind of loud sound, even door slamming sounds and automobile - my tinnitus has been getting slightly better over the period of several days, but it is still extremely bad, almost a step from suicide, but I have hope that I can still tolerate it with TRT and constant white/pink noise. Supposedly the brain stem uses the low levels of white/pink noise to restructure the neural circuits in order to both not be as distressed, and to gradually quiet it down a bit. I look at some people that have severe severe hearing loss, and I imagine that in my case my hearing loss is called "mild" in that a hearing aid is not indicated.

Hi guys srry for late answer. Im fine i guess, I got better but still my tinnitus is so loud and I am so affraid it will get louder (and not manageable).
Its ruining my social life...I never go to clubs ore pubs ore annywhere. I am feeling so alone, all my freinds are having fun and enyoing life meanwhile i stay at home cuz my tinnitus is keeping me at home. I got ear plugs, but yeah, iv tried with earplugs and my tinnitus always get louder..

Leo and others struggling. Ear plugs kinda seem to squash the T in - seems like it gets louder, also makes your hearing more sensitive so try to stay away.
Please don't give in you guys. See a specialist and ask about masking devices - I have had these for 5 months and they have physically brought the volume down about 15-20 decibels in that time. By masking devices I mean hearing aides that play a soft white noise in your ears - basically a shhhhh sound. It is soothing and constant. They're not cheap but they will change your life for the better. I use Unitron ones. Feel free to ask away via pm if u have any questions....

Hahah, all my freinds seems to have some kind of super ears:giggle: ... My ears are just so weak (n)

I can completely understand how you feel.. Im also goind through the same phase right now:( But ill try to stay positive...
Look you can still have a social life:) Yes maybe you cant go to loud concerts, bars or clubs but Im sure you can find more quiet places where to spend time:) There are many-many cafes and restaurants that have lower levels of music. Also, you can have your friends over at your place or go to their place. If they are true friends they will find a way to integrate you to their social life. And yes not all people get Tinnitus but that doesnt mean loud music isnt bad for us. And in time you will get used to it. People are amazing at continuing to live their lives as if nothing ever happened to them. Thats why habituation works.
How did you get Tinnitus in the first place anyway?

I also used to have a much more quiet T and it increased in volume in the summer. It's definitely not a nice experience, but little by little you will adapt. Seeing to a doctor and at least talking to someone could also help. And there should be some sound that can help to mask your T. On the internet you can find many different white noise generators. If you don't like white noise, there is also pink or brown noise or a fan sound. Than you can try different nature sounds, like water, rain, bird singing, circades. If one single sound isn't enough, there are also some white noise generators where you can combine different masking sounds.

I live in New Zealand - they cost $4.5k - the govt here subsidises $1k.
$4.5k is about $4k US I believe. They've come down a lot in price. When I first discussed them with my ENT specialist about 5 years ago they were $11k! It's a lot but it's worth it.

Live in USA went the other day to ent she told me $3800 all on me

Don't know what kind are high end or low end had to go home and count my money

Looking at my choice's don't want to act to fast and not like what I get

Dealing with this shit for a long time just went up in volume last 2 months seeing if it goes back down before I spend that kind of money

I was given a shot of depo medol. it stopped the ringing for a few days. I use a salt water sinus rinse to irrigate my sinus and blow unbelievable amount of mucus out and get relief. also eating chicken noodle soup w hot sauce in it helps. im looking into getting more of the depo medol. have to have relief. chronic ear infections are supposedly the cause or nerve damage. xanax is my ultimate relief , it calms it down. hope you get relief!

@jeff147 I tried your tip and ended up in the ER.
I just used some onions like you said, what did I do wrong?
