Hello! I'm new here, and unfortunately, also new to tinnitus. I've had noise-induced tinnitus and mild hyperacusis for about two months now, with no hearing loss.
Yesterday, my husband and I decided to go on a short road trip to distract ourselves from our problems. That turned out to be a mistake. My tinnitus spiked during the night—the high-pitched tone became almost like a siren. I was not expecting this at all, especially since we were in an electric car, which stayed between 60 and 68 dB at most. However, I could still hear the wind noise, even with the windows closed.
Now I'm very anxious because we need to travel again to return home. It seems a bit calmer today, but it still hasn't returned to baseline. This is my second spike since the onset. The first one happened after taking Nootropil.
Do you think I should use earplugs on the way back? Any advice would be appreciated.
