17 days ago I got an ear infection and labyrinthitis and my tinnitus got really bad. After 7 days the tinnitus settled down enough so that it became a background noise and I was able to use quiet rain sounds to mask it and fall asleep.
7 days ago I was watching something quiet so I had the volume up but when a notification went off it was too loud. I immediately noticed that the tinnitus sounded louder and more intense.
The tinnitus in my left ear is now a sharp high pitch piercing sensation (around 8400 Hz) and the right ear is an intense ringing (around 7770 Hz).
I keep this on 24/7:
I am still in shock and haven't been able to relax. I have had a lot of trouble falling asleep.
It has brought me to a very dark place and everything has become distant.
I am hoping it settles down and my mind habituates to it so it isn't as piercing so I can stay calm.
