Cause of Tinnitus
Blow to the ear
Hi, my tinnitus has a changing sound and the volume changes during the day. It started a year ago when I got I blow to the ear. It then stayed for a few months, mostly went away for 1/2 a year (not totally but it was only present very rarely), and is now back for a few months. It is definitely affected by both jaw and neck movement. (I have it only in my right ear).

I wanted to know if I can expect it to go away again naturally, and if there is something I should be doing. I have seen a doctor which sent me to a standard hearing test that showed no hearing loss.

I think everybody's tinnitus changes. Constantly. Mine certainly does. Today for example, it's slightly quieter, yesterday, intolerable. It's just the very nature of this beast.

Hi Binyamin,

Welcome to the forum!

Have you had any noise or physical trauma lately or have you been ill? The reason I asked is because I find it particularly interesting that your tinnitus "went away" for six months, only to recur.

I haven't had any noise or physical trauma that I can recall. I have been diagnosed with type one diebities around the time that it started, but the doctor I spoke to, seems to think that there is no connection.

The thing is that in not only changes in volume, but also in the type of sound. Does your tinnitus change when you move your jaw or neck?
