Naproxen Sodium and Tinnitus?

So I was recently given Naproxen Sodium for menstrual related migraines. My doctor said it was in the Motrin family.

I happen to look at the discharge papers and it said ibuprofen right next to it.

I knew right then, I wasn't taking that shit. Advil was how I got into this mess plus my loud music that usually wouldn't affect me. I took the max limit in one day and here I am with T and slight H. I will not be risking it for a permanent T spike.

My period headaches are bad but I'll go through them like I've been doing. My mom insists that Advil didn't cause my headaches but that was the only medicine I was taking at the time. I was on a vegetarian diet as well.

My mom insists I still take it just in case but I'm not risking it. That bottle is going to collect dust just like the rest of the pain medication.

Has anyone else taken this? How did it affect your T.

i used to suffer with severe pms and migraines.

Never a fan of red meat; unknowlingly depriving myself of zinc. Hence, i developed severe copper toxicity.

interestingly, ibuprofen depletes zinc.

Since rebalancing my metals, the headaches have vanished.

A natural analgesic that you could try is tumeric.

Hm, I'm not a red meat fan either. I am a borderline anemic because I'm very low on iron. I don't take supplements for it though. Maybe my zinc is out of balance as well. I heard about turmeric. I was think about trying some for a facial mask. I guess I can use it for headaches too. Hehe, thanks for the information.

Copper is attracted to estrogen, which explains why many women experience severe pms during times of hormonal surges.

Naproxen and Ibuprofen are NSAIDs ("non-steroidal anti-inflammatories). Chemically they are not the same medication though. In layman's terms think of it this way: Ibuprofen is a sister to aspirin while Naproxen is a cousin. Naproxen seems to work better for inflammation than Ibuprofen, and it does so at a lower dosage than Ibuprofen. Both can cause gastro-intestinal upset.

Personally I will take either medication when needed, but I don't do it often and I don't do it on a daily basis. I haven't noticed it affecting my tinnitus on the rare occasions when I do use the stuff. And I never take it for migraine relief because that stuff is useless against migraines. What I usually do is take some good quality magnesium, which helps immensely. I have also found reducing my sugar intake has cut migraines down considerably. I still get them, just not as much these days.

BTW, zinc can be extremely hard on your gut. Don't ask how I know, just trust me on this. Even the chelated stuff. So keep that in mind if you're supplementing with it. If you're going to take zinc you could always try ZMA, which is a supplement containing zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. The zinc and mag are bound to amino acids in the formulation and I have found them much less harsh on the stomach. You can find this stuff at any health food store or online.
