      Hello Everyone,

Every time I go for a short nap during the day, I wake up to very, very loud noise. It is very high pitched squealing.

I don't know why this happens. Even when I do get the tinnitus to subside sometimes, it all gets wrecked as soon as I have a nap. It is very frustrating.

      Anyone else have similar experiences?

Sort of... It's always the loudest right after I wake up. It's always goes down too, after I've gotten out of bed and started doing something. This goes for both naps and sleep during the night. I wouldn't describe it as `exploding' though.

I'm having a spike since two weeks, although some days are better than others. I kind of monitor it through the day, to see if any activity has any effect on it. I'm trying to balance wanting to play music all day and giving my ears a proper rest. I mostly try to find activities in which I can experience some kind of flow and make me forget the tinnitus.

Yep 2. I couldn't have a nap the first 2 years, now it's better and can afford it, when T is here the volume remains the same before and after the nap. However, sleeping late in the WE is still difficult. T is buzzing loud at wake up and usually fades 1 or 2 hours after when I'm surrounded by masking daily noises (shower, taking out the dishes from the machine, driving my car to my workplace and listening to music in). The only trick I found to lie in is to take my Lamyctal (Lamotrigine, poor Trobalt substitute) at 6AM which allows me to stay (not sleep) in bed till 9AM (my wife is happy then). I think I'm fortunate for this. Hang on guys!

When T becomes loud when waking up from a nap, adrenaline increases with a quicker response than usually from a long night's sleep. It's called the 'awakening response' and many with T have this.

You guys might be clenching or grinding your teeth (bruxism). This is a known cause of T.
