- Cause of Tinnitus
- Still unknown... possibly noise exposure?
I feel exactly the same I am thinking what you wrote every day.As well as, those of us with obsessive compulsive tendencies, control issues and perfectionism. For me, If I hear any phantom noises in my head, I'll never be truly happy. My mind is not capable of accepting anything less than peace and quiet, to be able to concentrate and focus. Just the fact that I can never get away from it, or know what it will do at any given moment, blows all the circuit breakers in my head. It's overwhelming to me. It's life threatening stuff!
re Dopamine question posed by deathbymigrain: Try researching Mirapex for restless legs, it is supposed to increase Dopamine. There are anecdotal reports of T relief.
I have all those issues which you mentioned... OCD, Perfectionism and the control issues are hand in hand with those two things, in fact all three are tied together. As well as, those of us with obsessive compulsive tendencies, control issues and perfectionism. Those who have chronic tinnitus we're screwed.
Makes you wonder the type of personality that has a predisposition to developing T. As 'Champ' pointed out, this forum seems to have a disproportionate number of science/engineering/medical and just generally analytical people. If you read the responses from people you definitely get the feeling the forum itself has a larger number of educated people than some of the other forums I have visited. I wonder if there is a correlation to depression and the personality types here, especially in relation to the neuro-plasticity and dopamine/serotonin pathways that seem to promote the development of T in many people with CNS issues. I guess for many in these fields perfectionist behavior makes accepting something like Tinnitus even more difficult,
