Cause of Tinnitus
hearing loss
In the infancy of this, started in December 2017. Confirmed due to hearing loss, whopping age of 57 this month. I've been trying different sounds for white noise to try and mask the tinnitus some, at least to let me concentrate at work. Haven't been successful. Thanks to hip dysplasia, I developed severe arthritis in both hips - also my lower spine. Had the left hip replaced last August, the right will be this May. I've got chronic pain and can deal with that better than this never ending high pitched tone in both ears.

Anybody have any sound suggestions to help mask it occasionally until I habituate?

I would say play some nice soft relaxing music and see how you get on with that.
You can download free masking apps also .

Sometimes really high pitched T needs more than white noise as white noise is loud noise but not high pitched enough. You can use high frequency nature sounds such as heavy rain, cicadas, non-stop waves, wind, even shower & faucet sound. I listed some nice sites for sound choices in my success story when I talked about 'Masking' as a strategy, especially initially. Over there I also include link to a youtube tinnitus masking sound which is considered one of the most effective one for really high pitched T. It is combining really high pitched cicadas with some ACRN tones. You need to turn down the volume first before you start that one. Try to listen to it with speakers and not earphones. If you have to use earphones, make sure volume is lower than your T. Here is my success story. Take good care. God bless.

Thanks Chad - finding the same with the crickets, just wish when I shut the sound off that the crickets in my head would join the rest of the group and leave... ;)
