Hi Guys,
I have read a lot of information here, certainly helps when this overwhelming noise stops normal social interactions.
6 weeks ago I woke up at 3am with very high pitch screaming in both ears, no exposure to loud noise recently or any obvious reason. Scared the crap out of me and I didn't sleep that night. My tinitus is around 13khz and has a pulsatile aspect to it, like high pitch bells that fluctuate to my heart beat. I went to the GP and he arranged an MRI. MRI scan indicated some fluid around optic nerve, so off to the eye specialist to see if I had idiopathic intercranial hypertension. They decided I didn't have IIH after eye tests etc, no other weird things in scan to indicate reason behind the tinnitus.
I have read the PubMed on the Somatosensory Pulsatile Tinnitus and that pretty much describes mine. Head movements and jaw movements allow me to modulate the intensity - but not always. I did a hearing test and both ears normal.
I tried some diazepam which seems to help reduce intensity a bit.
So I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with this type of tinnitus in controlling it? GABA agonist or anti inflammatory or something else. I am a gym guy and work out a lot for many years. I am also curious if anyone has heard of neck related issues causing this type of tinnitus in relation to C1/C2 issues.
Like a lot of people I am struggling with this and my life enjoyment has dropped off massively to the point where I stay home and Netflix and Chill (alone).
I would have to say it has pushed me into a depressive state and would certainly appreciate any advice.
