Anti depressants
Hi everyone,
I have had tinnitus for about 4 years. I have no idea why it started, no trauma, no loud noises. It's just in one ear and not usually overly loud. I have also developed Ménière's disease within the last couple of years. I have been taking anti depressants for about five years and have always wondered if that's how this all developed. I am at my wits end dealing with everything.

I do not have severe Ménière's attacks often but I feel brief dizzy spells and just feel "off" a lot. ENT's have been completely useless. I have lost about 60% hearing in my affected ear. Between the depression and these ear problems my quality of life is severely hampered and I don't look forward to the future.

Not sure what I expect by posting on here, just some friendly support I guess. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. It seems that hearing loss can contribute to tinnitus although not all people with hearing loss develop tinnitus. Some people have been helped by using hearing aids. Don't know where you live, but here in Canada, you can try out the hearing aids first and if they don't work, you can return them.

meniere's causing hearing loss, therefore can cause tinnitus.

Usually menieres has low frequency tinnitus due to low freq hearing loss associated with the condition if I understand correctly.

I am actually going in this Friday to check out hearing aids, hopefully it helps.

Yes I believe your right. It's the most annoying thing, it's not just the times when I have severe attacks but just everyday feeling a little bit off, slightly dizzy or worrying that an attack is coming. I wouldn't wish this condition on anyone.

Feel your pain, hang in there and there's a lot of excellent and potentially helpful info on this forum. I'm suffering as well, and this is the only forum I've taken part in. Read, research, ask questions, and know you're not alone. I hope you get some relief asap.
