Hi guys

I'm from Europe and have been a lurker for a while

I have a 1 year history of bilateral high-pitched tinnitus emulating from within my head. Seen ENT, MRI normal, usual advice "you're normal...nothing can be done...live with it...etc" No obvious cause/trigger so I can only put it down to years of earphone use, i.e. self-inflicted.

Thought I would "emerge" and say hi

Hi and welcome, your symptoms sound very similar to mine, and I think I have a bit of hyperacusis, as well. I visited a second ENT doctor the other day and asked him if I should have an MRI , but he said it probably wouldn't show anything in my case, so I declined to have one.

Hi @dingaling and welcome.

There is quite a lot that can be done for tinnitus once a person is referred to a Hearing Therapist or Audiologist who's trained in the treatment and management of tinnitus. Please click on the links below and read my articles tha you might find helpful. They cover treatment and coping methods for tinnitus.

All the best
Michael

Hi Michael and thank you for this very useful information. Yes I had a hearing test (where I had to press a button whenever I heard beeps) and some weird pressure thing in my ear that made both ears pop. ENT doctor just looked and said "fine" but sent me for an MRI and basically said the same thing at my f/u. I didn't want anything to be wrong but obviously wanted some answers which I didn't get (doctor seemed rushed and wanted me out of the office).

My T isn't too bothersome at present but I have found some of the topics here to be useful. Just thankful I suppose that I haven't got a brain tumour ...

Did they find any hearing loss on the standard 250-8k audiogram?
