I had high pitch tinnitus in both ears for more than 5 years, probably for a hearing trauma (playing bass at high volumes). After this much time, I was kind of used to it, and it didn't really bother me that much. I kept using hear protections on noisy places and always used headphones at low volumes, but other than that I was ok.
As in my other post, this February I got a huge spike (maybe?) out of nothing, with these symptoms: really high pitch tinnitus only on the right ear, numbness around the ear (outside and inside), fullness, distorted sound. I did all the checkup and took some cortisone. They found a really mild hearing loss on high frequency on one test, then a week later everything was ok, the again few weeks later a mild hearing loss at low frequency (wtf).
Anyway, going on without thinking about it, some symptoms became really mild (no more numbness or distorted sound, just a little fullness), but the right ear had now a stronger tinnitus. After 1.5 months I started having a new sound, mid frequency, not continuous but more like a telegraph, low volume. I could hear it only at night. I tried to not care, it didn't go away. It's still here but not too bothering.
Fast forward to few days ago, I went to bed and again, a new sound. This time it is a low frequency humming sound, continuous, but pretty intense volume when there's silence, still only on the right ear. It also feels like my inner ear vibrate. During the day, when I move or hear sounds, I do not hear it. The second it gets nearly silent around, tho, I start hearing it instantly. Even more weird, when I plug my ears seems like it disappears. Moreover, the fullness sensation came back. Also, when the wind blows, or for example when I use the towel to dry my head, in my right it feels like someone is using a glass bottle as a flute, blowing air in it.
Long story short, I feel like my right ear is in a bad condition and getting worse and worse fast. I don't know what to nor who should I see. Every doctor check my ear and they say they're good. The hearing test is not perfect but still average for my age. I did an MRI 5 years ago and found nothing. Every doctor I talk to tells me everything looks ok and that there's nothing to do.
So here I am again, getting crazy hearing these new sounds, after I thought I was good to go living my life with my tinnitus. And again, I don't know if something bad is actually happening inside my ear, or if it's a new spike (be it temporary or permanent): pretty bothering but not dangerous.
