Morning.

Just a quick introduction regarding my tinnitus.

I started getting tinnitus about 2 years ago after my ETD started.

I have recently been to see a specialist and he confirmed I have ETD, but they won't do anything as my hearing is still ok and they don't want to risk anything. Bit annoyed as it is doing my head in... literally.

My tinnitus is worse in my left ear and again is doing my head in... I'm getting an MRI scan just to check.

I work rubbish shifts so when I go to bed I do tend to fall asleep right away as I'm normally really tired. However when I wake to go to my boys' room, that's when I really struggle to get back to sleep!

I've tried the EarPopper - this made the tinnitus worse. I've tried the balloon thing and this doesn't really do anything for me.

I suppose I have to live with it and just hope it doesn't get worse!

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. ETD is a common cause of tinnitus. If there is not enough response here, you can search this site with ETD and you will get lots of prior discussions on it. Also did you ever try some of those videos on youtube which teach people how to drain blocked Eustachian Tube? If it is harmless to try, it doesn't hurt to try it if you have never tried before. Good luck. God bless.

Thanks.

I'll have a look on this site.

I have looked at YouTube briefly but have not tried any yet.

Thanks again.

Hi there,

Thanks for letting about MRI being noisy! I've never had one before.

I haven't tried the inhaler but will give it a go... I did use a bowl of hot water with a towel over head. I suppose that is the same.

The balloon thing... not a very good description. This is called Otovent where you blow it up using your nose! How glamorous.

Thanks.

Hi,

Could I ask how you got ETD by any chance? Allergies, ear infection, bad cold?

(I've personally been on this unpleasant E-train for 9 months.)

Hi there,

To be perfectly honest Im not totally sure. It's quite difficult to remember when it all started, I keep thinking back.

It could have been from a heavy cold I had over the winter, that's I've had... no ear infections and I don't seem to be allergic to anything... unless I am in which case I don't know what I'm allergic to!

All I know is I'm with you and everyone who has ETD. I want it gone as it's ruling my life.

Thanks.
