I've been battling reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis for theee months. My tinnitus and hyperacusis changes everyday.

Today i stepped outside and my vision went black. I could not see ANYTHING. ANYTHING at all. Then my black spots started to move.

Are these black eye floaters?!?! What the hell is wrong. I'm only 23. Why is this happening?

So eye floaters drift in your vision, if you quickly glance to your right or left the floater will dart across.

How long did the black out last? I know someone who has large floaters that passes by the optical nerve and the black out lasts just for a passing moment. Usually its age related so it seems usual for you to have something like that. Could be something else. Maybe see an optometrist as soon as you can to rule out floaters.

Exactly. They dart everywhere. They're not stable but they take up my entire vision when I'm out in the sunlight. Again I've never had this problem before. I really don't think it's my eyes. It's definitely my brain.

It lasted the entire time I was in the sunlight. I wasn't even facing the sun. As soon as I wobbled my way inside they started to go away.

Do you wear contacts? I've had super dry eyes act like this.

Sounds like dark eye floaters, i have them but they dont cause me much cause for concern. Its a small sack of clear liquid in your eye that has some foreign particles in it. Light shines through it to the back of your eye and so it picks up the stuff in the clear liquid and casts a shadow in your vision. It is linked to Tinnitus but doesn't have to be. Its not serious unless you have a lot or it gets worse, if you have them bad that its effecting you then seek medical help. The good news is they know what it is, what causes it and in some cases can be treated.

There is totally a link

The floaters were this big but this picture is a joke in comparison. I mean there were so many that I could only see black. I'm not kidding. I felt blind. But once I'm not looking at anything bright I'm totally fine.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with my eyes. I found another reactive tinnitus sufferer and she has them as well. But she also has visual snow on top of it.

Yeah my eye floaters started about 3 months in. Your brain is not as good at processing and filtering sensory data anymore. They were always there, your brain just used to filter it out.

I've had floaters since I was 17, I'm 27 now. I also just a serious battle with some reactive T, it took 4 months but I'm more or less back to my regular "cycle" I hope things calm down for you quickly!

I would highly recommend going to see an eye doctor so they can examine you. If eye floaters are the problem you can contact a doctor who can help you. I remember seeing a video on YouTube about a doctor using a YAG laser to break up eye floaters. I don't know if that would help you but I figured I would mention it. I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering with this. :(

@JasonP I'm 23 so I'm young. I've never had a problem with eye floaters before. I really think it's my brain causing this.

I have found many other people online with acoustic traumas that later developed visual snow and/or floaters. They got their eyes checked and they were fine. I'm just scared by how much damage my brain has taken from noise that it is now affecting my eyesight :(

Thank you for your words of encouragement though and your advice. I appreciate it greatly

Isn't there a way to get rid of floaters? Some surgery? Mine isn't terrible but when i read this thread i start searching for it lol. Mine are semi transparent dots or worm things. Mmmhmm

There is, but at the moment it´s a bit risky it seems. So if you have just a mild case of floaters it probably isn't worth the risk. However, @Mr Worried wrote an interesting piece about a new technique thats around the corner.

There is a link. I developed visual snow and dark eye floaters and the blue optic phenomenon (I think its called that), and trembling vision right after my T increased and I got Severe H.

I think Tinnitus messes up the brain somehow

Eye floaters and Visual Snow Syndrome are tied to thalamocortical dysrhythmia which is also tied to tinnitus. My eye floaters also got much worse 3 months after getting Tinnitus.

I would say it was almost exactly 3 months for me too, freaked me out bad.

Did you ever use medicines like anti depressants, anti-biotics? Or drugs like xtc, paddo's? Did you have panic attacks or stressfull time? Those create visual snow syndrome.
