Hi Everyone,
I've had it for just over a month now. It's hard to find specific information so I've been reading about other people's experiences which has been really helpful so I thought I would share mine as I assume other people do the same thing and frantically google looking for answers when they first get tinnitus.
It began with me noticing a pitch or frequency in the evening almost like something electrical. Then at nighttime when it's quiet I began noticing this noise is consistent and realised it was coming from my ears, since then it has become more noticeable and louder and has more of a pitch to it. For the last year on and off I had a whooshing heart beat sound in my left ear but this too has come back.
A bit of background, I'm a 30yo female and about a year ago I had my tonsils out and had an artery burst quiet badly a week afterward I was in hospital for a while. Ever since then I've had the whooshing and a lot of sinus infections, and my head and ears always feel full and constantly pop.
Also I have issues with my wisdom teeth which I have organised to have out as they are also causing problems and making me sick.
I do listen to headphones and try to be mindful of the volume.
It has been a weird few weeks at first I was very very upset about it and wasn't able to sleep started driving me a bit crazy. But then I changed my mind set and was determined to ignore it using sound apps to sleep which made everything a bit better, the sound wasn't as bad. It's a little bit up and down so far and I'm looking to improve it. The doctor and audiologist so far haven't been very helpful but they want me to have an MRI before giving me anything to try and treat it.
I'm going to give Ginkgo Biloba and Magnesium to try, I also have low Iron at this point so also taking supplements for that and have some B12 on standby.
I noticed my ears ache walking in cold weather and alcohol makes it worse. I've also cut out coffee, processed foods and salt from my diet.
I will be sure to update after I get my wisdom teeth out or if the supplements have any effect and I'd love to hear your experiences or advice.
Also to the people who have this severely I couldn't imagine how unbelievably hard it would be. I have read a lot of people's experiences and I can see how important it is to keep a strong frame of mind and not let it rule your life.
