New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

End of 2021 wow. That is disappointing. Sort of knew it, but still.
By then maybe FX-322 may already be out. I think Susan Shore is going to continue to delay it and when regenerative hearing medicine comes out she will stop the trials.

I feel like she is just milking the money and wasting it.

I appreciate her and her team. I understand she's being thorough and doing it right, but every time she gives us a glimpse of a timeline it seems 6 months longer than the last estimate.
Why appreciate her? She's probably making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. If someone held a gun to her head this device would have already been out and working. I guess she's been working on this device for 20 years.

2021????:eek::eek::eek:
And the waiting continues... sigh.:arghh:
I am not sure what she meant by 2021, is it study completion or maybe FDA approval or even commercialization. The best case scenario is that she plans to finalize the study in 2020, get an FDA approval mid of 2021 and launch end of 2021.

I think we have better chance of FX-322 getting Compassionate Use (Expanded Access) in the meantime.

The thing is that if tinnitus is generated by cochlear synaptopathy then FX-322 may not help since it does not regenerate synapses. Shore's device might help in such cases or one of synaptopathy drugs (HEI pill, OTO-413, PIPE-505).

True. Hopefully end of September we know more.

The never ending story...

Let me briefly elaborate further:
It has been two and one half years since our Chicago Tribune in their Health and Wellness Section had a major article about how already a substantial amount of research and trial application on Shore's device had been completed.

If this operates on at least a partially relational equivalence and methodology as Lenire, then why have they been able to make this available to the consumer for almost a year whereas Shore's might not be available until 2022?

I will always support anyone interested in helping us. In the meantime, we can hope Lenire can keep updating and improving its system and maybe Minnesota or any other company may launch another alternative...

Let's hope Susan Shore can accelerate things up!

Hi all,

So this Susan Shore Thing has apparently been building up for quite some time and people seem to place more value in her (hopefully) upcoming device than in Neuromod's Lenire device. However I do not seem to find any research that backs up the fact the Susan Shore's device would be any better than Neuromod's. Additionally Susan's Shore's research seems to be shrouded in vagueness and delayed deadlines.

Can someone tell me where this bias towards Susan Shore is coming from? Is it based on actual scientific evidence, or just us sufferers clinging to the fact that the next thing coming out will be the actual cure?

I think it's less of a validation of Shore and more of a plan B because of Lenire disappointment.

The published results from the first Shore study seemed much better/more promising to me. 20 people were in the study and had an average 12 DB decrease in their T loudness. 2 people had T eliminated. No reports of any worsenings. The study was only 4 weeks of treatment. Pretty impressive results albeit a small sample size.

i know this was aleady posted from 2013. I would suspect it could take 8-10 years, until 2021 to 2023. She is super smart and this team is going to change the game. I have hope!

I wrote a short email to Dr. Shore to clarify the information that @Mentos has already got from her about the date of 2021. She replied

"The 2nd trial should be done in the fall of 2020. I can't say exactly when commercialization will happen."

So we can expect to see her results by the end of this year and maybe try the device late 2021 or early 2022.

At least it looks like they are doing a very rigorous study!
Apparently studies are like art--never finished, only abandoned. You have to know when you've reached the point of diminishing returns. It's a mindset, sort of like trying to cut a perfect circle out of a piece of paper.

She is a professor. They know shit about commercialization. Trust me I know. I hope a company like Neuromod buys the results. It will be much faster that way.

I have made my mind: this is a life long battle, and have little hope for a solution that comes from anywhere in the coming years. I will have to fight it alone. I am not pessimistic, just optimistic with common sense.

Thanks for the video but at the same time she's just taking her own sweet time at the expense of all our suffering, if this thing really does work.

Why don't you think one of these things coming up may help?
