New year's eve is coming, what will you do?
Will you celebrate it with friends? Will you celebrate it in a potentially noisy place?

I'm suppose to spend the night with some of my friends in an event venue that we rent for the night. I know they'll put some music and it might be loud (they told me not to worry, that it won't be "too loud" but I'm pretty sure that "not too loud" for them can be too loud for me..) so I'm not sure I'll go there :(

What are your plans?

Netflix.

I'll be visitng Poland for New Years Eve and I'm already looking forward to trying some of those excellent Polish craft beers I can't normally afford in Scotland :D

A few days of holidays with my gf, protected from all the explosions !

You should worry when someone tells you "It won't be too loud". "Not too loud" = still loud ;)

Ahh.. I hadn't thought about it... this is my first new years eve with tinnitus...
I think I'll take my partner out to a place far away from a city, overlooking it so that we can enjoy the fireworks at a distance.

I use these https://www.alpinehearingprotection.com/earplugs/musicsafe-pro/
Wish I would have worn them when I was still clubbing like the moron I was.

Thanks, are they more efficient than the classic Alpine's "party plugs" ? I have those ones

@bill112 it really depends on what you call "far" distance ;)

Theorically they explode at 150 db
Which is 110 dB at 100 m from them (http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-distance.htm)
104 dB at 200m
96 at 500m
90 at 1km

Nah I don't think they're much better.

Guys, look at this comparison PartyPlug vs Gold filtered pro. There is a quite significant difference between the two. Especially in highest and lowest frequencies.

MUSICSAFE PRO are "better" by 3 - 14dB, depending on a frequency.

I have PartyPlugs and I'm looking for something that gives a bit more protection. Seem like Pro might be a good choice. Am I mistaken?

I stand corrected :) They are significantly better.

These are definitely worth a look, the Isolates by flare audio. https://flareaudio.com/products/earfoams/isolate/

I've been using the titanium ones for a few weeks now and I'm seriously impressed, they give 33Db protection.

I can't find the Db attentuation results on their website but they've published them on their kickstarter page, scroll down to the 'November 18' entry

New Years Eve is "amateur night" so I'll be avoiding all that and simply making a friend a nice dinner for their birthday in a quiet atmosphere with some good wine and good food.

Booked a swanky room at a fancy hotel to watch the fireworks display over the city.

3 months Remaining to new year for me;) .Nowruz (new year) for Persian is in spring. So now I have been working like always:(.
Marry new year to all of you.
