Hello, everyone!

My name is Laura and I developed tinnitus back in May 2017.

For just under a year I have been suffering from a chronic sinus infection. I have all the classic symptoms such as nasal congestion, headaches, pain in my sinuses etc. Recently, I've developed tinnitus as well and I really do think it's caused by my blocked sinuses.

Can anyone please tell me what I can do to unblock my sinuses? I just don't know where to start and I'm feeling very overwhelmed at the moment.

HI @laura,
You could try steam inhalation using a facial sauna but I suspect you already know that. Block sinuses can cause tinnitus. I think it's best to be seen by an ENT doctor for tests, and treatment that will help you.
Hope you start to feel better soon.

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk Laura.
As Michael says do try steam inhalation and ask your doctor about a nose spray or try a mucous linctus like Sudafed .
Love glynis

Ps- a basic antihistamine can reduce mucous.

You should not have a problem with a basic one but I can not guarantee 100% so always read the leaflet inside.
I take Cinnarazine and they are fine.
Love glynis
I take a high dose 15mg and can help reduce tinnitus for some people with Menieres.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your kind and comforting words - it really does mean a lot. Is there anything I should look for when searching for an ENT specialist? Are there any tests which I should avoid or are unnecessary? I'll certainly look into steam inhalation and antihistamines as well!

Thank you, Michael! That's a really informative article! Going to book an appointment with my GP and get a referral, and see what's what! :)
