Hi..

I've just started with this damned ringing in my ears... think I have had it for some time because I have had these symptoms before but they go away... however they aren't going away now and I'm struggling to sleep and switch off... It's not such a problem in the day but come the end of the day as it quietens the ringing becomes much more noticeable...

I'm very frustrated.

Try playing natural sounds like wind,rain etc.
Next try natural sleep aids
Melatonin.

If it becomes a problem then see your doctor for stronger medication.

It helps to try and find the cause the tinnitus. Exposure to loud noise/sounds is the most common cause. Typically, it is listening to music through headphones regularly at high volume levels that you may not think are loud. Going to places where loud music is played: clubs, concerts etc can also be responsible.

If the answer is yes to the above and I suspect "headphone" use. It is important that you don't use them even at low volume. Tinnitus will sound more intrusive at night as you've noticed. Try using nature sounds for sound enrichment playing by your bedside. More about this is explained in the posts below by clicking on the links.
