Hello world!

I am on my sixth day on quitting tobacco. I'm just curious if someone here have been quitting, and that it had a positive effect on the tinnitus?

I quit seven years ago. My tinnitus went crazy. I asked the doctor what to do. He said hold your nose and blow. Didn't help.
Oh ... Congratulations!! Six Days. The tobacco is out, the addictive additives are still floating around. You did it.

I never smoked .. but actually it should not get worse but better because blood circulation improves without nicotine. and if not, at least your saving and crazy load of money ;)keep us updated on how you're doing.

.... I forgot to add - after I quit, yes, the tinnitus went wild for a time but settled back down. When you quit smoking, new myelin has to form on exposed nerves. Myelin is like the plastic coating on wire. Tobacco and coffee and lots of other stuff sorta strips myelin off nerves - thus, the calming effect of these substances and thus, the addiction.

I completely quit smoking towards the end of 2012/early 2013 and my tinnitus volume became less volatile at the time - so I'd definitely recommend quitting. Anything that messes with the CNS and has the potential for addiction or dependency can mess with tinnitus imo.

hey there, good to read from you again-how is life with this fxxccking tinnitus going? do you feel better now, cause i saw in your last posts you were really depressed?

I get a instant spike after smoking ....so I limit my smokes to 1 or 2 in the morning ... And 1 or 2 at night ......don't smoke through the day and I feel the t bothers me lesser in the day also may be because I am busy at work .....

I also got an instant spike after smoking cigarettes, so I finally quit

Many reputable sources say there's a correlation between smoking cigarettes and tinnitus; however, there will always be some variability since everyone's body reacts to things differently. Good luck quitting! :)

Funny this, I had smoked most of my adult life and finally gave up a year ago, and it made no difference to my T at all! If anything I think it may have gotten a little louder through the year since then up until my spike a month ago.

Suppose it depends on the individual huh?;)

I quit nicotine cold turkey a week ago (heavy user, too) and my T has spiked a lot since then-

I started smoking after the onset of T, I really enjoy it if I don't use too heavily. Five to 7 smokes a day, any more and I feel like it's making me feel like shit. I don't notice any effect on my T but then again I haven't quit either so who knows, but I highly doubt it would change much.
