I'm sure this question has been asked here many times. Does anyone know of anybody who have had their T just go away?

I met someone the other day that had hers for a few weeks and then it went away. But she said the cause of her T was due to stress.

If it is due to Noise does it really mean permanent?

I'm confused about the different T prognosis myself. If its all brain damage one should presume that the causes would be irrelevant. If it's brain damage plus inner ear nerve damage one would presume that both needs to heal or get rehabilitated. If its caused by mental trauma and stress one would presume that getting rid of the stress and pressure status would make it go away.

I'm just speculating here Alxtan. I choose to believe that we can all get way better and even depress the signals by time, I'm focusing on treatments and what people say from experience. So many people say they get better by time, no matter what caused the T. I will never know myself what caused it, I must admit I have given that a lot of thinking but seems like it's impossible to tell. Really wish they could scan the head to see the cochlea and inner hair cells etc. But they can't as far as I know. That's what I was told by the ENT surgeon. Alltough the guy was terrible at approaching T I guess he knows if it's possible to see these things or not.

Anyone that has some better info. on this topic?

I've heard it can take up to 3 years...... If its not permanent. I go it when I was a teenager from which I suspect was noise damage & it went away..... Took about 2yrs, I got it back recently but from painkillers. My thinking is if its not gone in 3yrs I would've gotten used to it by then.

Hey Per! Um I stopped listening to headphones & loud music at home & in the car. I also started wearing earplugs to concerts. Also turned the TV down, I can't believe how loud I used to have everything. It did seem loud, it does seem loud now, but I'm probably hearing it louder than what it is. It just seems high pitched.

This will answer your questions Per!

Read this paper from another thread for a very in-depth understanding and explanation of what causes T and how it effects the brain.

Hi erik, I'm afraid the link didn't lead to any article but to another post that has a link that goes to a different place than the link address u referred to. I however found another link that lead to a page that requires membership. I will try to sign up to read it.

Thanks.

Good to hear about your recovery. I think the word permanent is very wrong in any case, cause how can anyone know that? The ENT specialist that assessed me was so stupid and ignorant that he actually used the words forever. What a moron! I guess he says that to everyone then, in other words he claims he knows everything about the infinite future. Shocking who they give a doctors license.

Great success story from you Yellow Ledbetter :)

I had it for around 3 weeks once after going to an extremely loud club. The only way I can describe the feeling is a heavyweight boxer punching your ear drums. Like I said it went after 3 weeks with no damage to my ears I seemed to off gotten away with it but after the next time I was exposed to something as loud as this then it returned and I have had it for about 2+ years.

I know how you feel Digga. -- I never had T or even knew what it was until I reluctantly went to a very loud concert and made things worse by cupping my ears.

I am taking this experience and making myself turn around physically and spiritually. -- No time to dwell on it and be depressed since I can't change the past (only my future).

Good luck, John

So when ppl say it goes away in 3 weeks or 2 or 3 years, then later they say it comes back. So are you guy reexperiencing complete silence again or is it just a reduction of the tinnitus to a level not noticeable, or simply gotten use to the sound. When you hear it again you know it's serious? I know the pulsating tinnitus is usually comes and goes away from time, but noise- induced one kinda lingers around because actual real damage been done.

I think the brain can adapt and forget about the lost frequencies after a while but the actual damage stays that's why the next time will give even louder t and with even less powerful sound waves than usual

Once you had some damage - better be very careful

That's why I store a good amount of prednisone at home , have my LT device ready and we will soon also have keyzilen available so the next time you get some accoustic trauma hopefully then T effect will be limited.

LT has shown to rescue hair cells in the first week after acoustic trauma, predsinone is maybe only 48 hours ...so I am ready - besides also wearing ear muffs or plugs most of the time outside

No more regrets !

No more regrets but a very weird life ;/

My noise-induced T started 12 years ago. It was very mild at the beginning, and became louder and louder over the years, until a new acoustic trauma 6 months ago that made it incredibly loud.

It never stopped in 12 years, not a single second.

I got T recently in beginning of April 2017 on a Sunday morning from going to the shooting range.
I went to ENT the following Wednesday
And they determined I had moderate hearing loss to high frequency in my left ear where I have T. They gave me a dexamethasone steroid shot to the eardrum.
I'm going on my 5th week with it. It's very mild T. Which I know I should be glad compared to how loud I heard it the first days. I got my hearing back. Just wondering will the T eventually go away?
