I have a combination of sounds and good days/bad days like most here.

I noticed on my good days, it sounds exactly like soda bubbles going down your throat.

In fact, it's a very weird sensation to drink soda (I drink Sprite as it's caffeine free). It's almost like my brain is being tricked because the soda actually makes the same sound so it's louder during a swallow, and then for a second it's confused to continue the tinnitus.

The first time I drank some it almost stopped for just a second but then came back of course.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm not sure if this would be similar but when ever I swallow something I have a crackling sound in both of my ears.
I think that's normal. I get that too, even prior to tinnitus.

This is like soda bubbles, or an ice or pop rocks candy in my throat kind of. I probably haven't had them in years but it's a very similar sensation, probably most like swallowing an ice.

After 15 months that's kind of the sound my tinnitus has morphed into. My tinnitus follows a pattern. Loud one day, moderate the next, then mild. It sounds like hissing on the loud day, soda fizzing on the moderate, and then barely audible fizzing bubbles on the mild. Before it was just ringing and hissing.

@Rb86 Yep... when my wife asked me (a few years ago) what my tinnitus sounded like I said : -
A hissing snake, nighttime Cicadas and also like that bubbly hiss when you drink a Coke or carbonated drink.

At that point I thought I was going mad.

Now I know it's tinnitus and it's here to stay... :(

I also get hyperacusis with no pain... in certain environments (bars and restaurants mainly) where my tinnitus literally hisses louder in response to the background noise.

Best advice I can give is... avoid noises that aggravate your tinnitus - but not all noise, relax, don't worry, eat well, sleep well, keep BUSY and enjoy the good days. AVOID ear and headphones.
I hope today is a good one for you.

I only got this 4 months into my T. Never hard it before and pretty sure it's not "normal". At least it wasn't for me before T.

I'm not sure if I ever heard it before I got tinnitus, I dont think I did, but since I got it I have focused alot on my ears so maybe I just noticed it now.

Nah. When it started for me it was so bad I knew. Plus, my mother has had T since I was in middle school. I became very aware of ear stuff as she would ask me if this happened with mine and what not. That was one of them she'd ask me about and I always told her no.

My T starts in my throat. It starts out like pop rocks then goes to a hissing sound. It starts in the morning. It moves to my right ear for a few days then calms down. Strange for sure. Probably some mid connects with my brain.

I have the crackling when I yawn/swallow, I can do it with a closed mouth yawn too. Never, ever had this before, or any problems with the ears, nose, throat area. My recent audiologist appt showed I have weak eustachian tubes (ETD?) so I'm trying the neti-pot. I've had a lot of quiet days since then - coincidence?
