One of the Largest Tinnitus Trials Yet

Hello everyone just letting people know a huge trial is talking place in Ireland soon.

I did not know how severe it was in Ireland until I met with the Irish Tinnitus Association last week.

They told me 1 in 10 have tinnitus.

Go for it Cillian if you feel you want to,I think it's a Neuromonics trial which I don't have much faith in personally but who knows you might get some relief.I applied for the sake of it but as with everything for me I was refused yet again.

@Cillian I know. It's horrible. Just another example of the stigma surrounding mental health. In that the medical community seems to only take it seriously when they can blame the negative impacts of so-called benign conditions on it. Like NO. It's a rational response to a very horrible condition, like any other horrible condition and you should take peoples' pain (emotional or otherwise) seriously.

Heard it was"a device"that's all they said to me.Come to think of it it may actually be Mutebutton.But why not tell us?They wouldn't answer any of my questions and then just refused me into the trial.

Yes, but 90% have minor T, which is exclusively perceivable when plugging the ears or in total silence. Thus they hab eventually and a real treatment, let alone a cure, isn't paramount for them anymore.

Neuromonics trial.. sound placebo therapy. Awesome!
Looks like they refuse intelligent people.

Have no idea why,maybe because I was wise as to what it was and they felt uncomfortable with my questions.Either way it's one of those"sound based"therapies that basically do nothing.My main suspicion as to why I was refused might have something to do with the fact that I stated in my email"is this just one of those sound therapies that fool people into thinking it's gone?"and I'd say they weren't very happy with that

I'm assuming those in Ireland have been inflicted by hearing damage much more because of their "partying type nature". Quite simply, Rambunctious partying = loud noise = higher risk in hearing damage = developed ringing. I'm sure the decibel levels at a party, especially with tremendously loud music playing from speakers, is incredibly high.

It's all being kept somewhat a secret here for some reason and I can't understand it.Absolutely nobody is aware of Mutebutton and I mean nobody!Ents,specialists you name it have no idea what Mutebutton is.I've emailed them a few times but just got obscure responses back from them.My expectations is extremely low for this.

There's a party culture here but it's nothing compared to nearly every other country out there,Spain for example is much more a"clubbing"country than Ireland.My opinion for what it's worth is that the Irish are just cashing in on the T game like everyone else,I could be wrong but I won't be surprised if this flops.

It's 50:50 like most other countries it's not all party caused haha

Another thing to mention is that basically no one here gets treatment for T,mainly because there is none.So if the Irish are let loose with a"revolutionary"T treatment their going to feel results because simply they've never been treated for it before.This might sound stupid to most here but believe me,I'm Irish and I know what the Irish are like and how things work here and this will see results regardless whether it does anything or not.If a trial was held in the U.K it would be a different story.

Haha screw them,what the treatment is should be open to the public not kept secret for mysterious reasons,they got asked a few questions and refused me and I think that speaks volumes in itself wouldn't you agree?
Either way I have no faith in it,just felt it was at least my duty to try and take part as the info may have been helpful here,I'm not crying myself to sleep over it I can promise you thatWhere are you from by the way?

What exactly is their exclusion criteria?Nobody seems to get that far as to finding what it is,there's nothing on their website about exclusion criteria.Maybe their overwhelmed with the interest?I dunno why they're just outright saying no to people before even finding out if they meet the criteria,seems odd.

That I do believe,it's been all over the radio and it seems everyone I talk to mentions it to me so the word is definitely out there.Its false hope Cillian,these devices are just a fancy snake oil in my opinion.

Ya I hear it on the radio non stop I believe we are years away from proper T treatment but hopefully this can be the first step
