Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

Yes. Read my posts. I was turned down based on the phone interview.
I never read whole threads or even go back lots of posts. I would never not be on this site if I did.

Bad luck on the interview. Some would just have lied and said they have it in only one ear. And to be honest I wouldn't blame them.

They didn't even tell me it was a disqualifier. They just asked and I answered. That was that.

I got my injection very recently. I don't know if it was the real drug or placebo.

My tinnitus seemed to have been healing on its own, but very slowly, so given that I haven't seen any real difference yet, I'll update the thread if I see any noticeable changes.

Thank you CBM.
Glad to hear your are healing...

Thank you Daniel. I really thought my healing had stopped a while ago but I noticed it has actually been easier to mask lately than it was before. Both out and about and at home with my sound machine.

Having said that, if I got the real thing, I would know because I didn't really notice my own natural improvements were continuing until recently, so it's very gradual. I'm sure the drug would work a bit faster than my "over the months" type of improvement if I actually got the real thing, assuming it works.

You experience changes that are tangible but slow.... this is good man. Slow and steady wins the race. Make sure you always have some foam plugs on you for unexpected noise.

As far as the drug goes... you're just going to have to wait and see? Who knows man, this is all so new. Wait and see. Regardless you've helped push science forward and we are all grateful for that.

Keep us posted buddy and keep healing up... you're doing great.

Best of luck. I hope it helps. How painful was the injection?

I appreciate it. The shot didn't hurt too bad, what bothered me more was when they were spreading a numbing cream in my ear. That part was more painful than the shot, apparently they have to get it in some hard to reach spot.

I've been having some ear pain since the shot, which they said would be normal, and it's nothing I can't handle. It's not that bad. They also said headaches would be common too but I don't have that at all.

So is it just 1 shot or do you need another one soon?

When will they let you know if you received placebo or the real drug?

I know you haven't noticed any difference with your tinnitus other than it being easier to mask. Do you notice any reduction of your hyperacusis?

Easier to mask has been from natural slwoly over time healing. The shot so far has not had any noticeable effect. It is only one shot, so I'll only be going back for assessments from here on.

I don't really have hyperacusis, but the drug isn't intended for that anyways.

They should be telling me what I got injected at the end of my following, so about 8 weeks.

I'm on the edge of my seat.

Amazing. Someone from here is getting this drug and is in the trial?! Please don't disappear and keep us noted!

Great, where I had surgery on that ear and it's still healing the last thing I want is more pain. Even if mine is a month away.
Well it's not too bad, specifically last night I had some moments of bad pain but they only lasted for like maybe 30 seconds.

Today I haven't really felt the pain so far, maybe a mild bit. Keep in mind it's only been a few days since the injection.

Now that I think about it, I had some pain in my ears that lasted only a few seconds each time for a few weeks after all of my injections. Is that like yours? Very brief sharp pains?

How'd you like getting that needle in your ear? Fun right? Did you get vertigo for a few minutes?
I remember my Dad saying that 50 years ago he got a thorn in his eye. He had to have an injection in his eye. Imagine watching a needle coming down towards your eye and then piercing it. Fuck that.

When I got LASIK they asked if I wanted plugs too. They didn't tell me how they would get them in there and I must said yes since I heard they were helpful.

The way they got them in was exactly that, and the doctor actually messed up in one eye so she kept stabbing around with the needle in there for a little bit until she eventually just pulled it out and tried it again.
