Otonomy OTO-313 — Treatment of Tinnitus

Okay, I wanted to wait a week to tell you guys just to make sure it stayed this way, but I'm nearly 100% confident I got the drug and it definitely works.

My tinnitus has gone from a ringing pure tone to only being able to hear a faint tone occasionally or mainly a hiss most of the time when I'm wearing my sound-canceling headphones.

It's been such a welcome change that I honestly didn't expect.

Very happy for you, good news for all of us if they finally pull through with a treatment!

Did you ever have any hyperacusis as well ?

I couldn't even imagine better news, and I'm very happy for you. Please could you make a comparison, how loud was it before the drug and now?

This is absolutely amazing to hear! Hopefully it continues to diminish.

It was getting lower before the drug though? Fluctuations were normal in your case?

I'm still new to this forum, but believe me when I say that I'm happy to hear about your tinnitus reduction and I hope it continues getting better for you. Thank you for updating us.

Any idea when they would tell you if you got the real thing or not?

Unblinding is extremely rare, we'll have to wait for the trial to be over.

That being said, very interesting results. When Otonomy first acquired this I was super skeptical because the original cohort had the substance into their ear continuously for 48 hours. Any augmentations they did is well congratulated and awesome. Hope other patients have similar results and we move the needle against hearing ailments a little bit.

This is great to hear @Sentinel.

If FX-322 does not reduce tinnitus completely, something like OTO-313 should be able to get rid of it mostly or permanently.

Did they ever say how long it would take for tinnitus to go away with the other patients? You may have some more decreasing in the next couple of weeks.

Can you disclose what was the root cause of your tinnitus, is it noise induced? I suppose yours is unilateral, do you hear it in your ear or head?

Finally some good news! Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us.
I wonder if Otonomy would ever consider compassionate use.

So glad to hear that it worked for you @Sentinel! That must be such a relief.

I will gladly join your tattoo club. I've been meaning to get one to piss off my mom, and I think "OTO-313" on my bicep would look pretty rad.
This gave me a good chuckle—randomly flexing your bicep at people, going "have you ever heard about OTO-313?! It changed my life!"

I believe Otonomy will be the "Space X" of the Biopharmaceuticals field. Hopeful times indeed.

He said:

"Guns and music probably"

I think he mentioned just one ear.

@TrevorSanders, I agree with @Gb3[/USER.

I didn't mean to scare you off with my post about being sick man I shouldn't have posted it as it didn't pertain to the injection. I hope you still have the chance to get the drug.

No hyperacusis ever.

I would say it went from a 7/10 to a 2-3/10.

It was quiet on the day of the injection but it got louder and when I was sick before I got better it was extremely loud. I did have fluctuations but it never was this low ever.

In a year or so.

It's mostly from gunshots. Prolonged gunfire in September of last year and a single shot in November while hunting, developed it in December. It's unilateral but I sorta hear it in the center of my head and my right ear.

I have a follow-up appointment with the clinic in early August and September with my last visit being in October. They are gonna do some more bloodwork for some unfathomable reason and I'll probably fill out more TFI forms to track the course of my progress so that Otonomy has data.

As far as buying stock, it's only $1.79 right now so you don't have a ton to lose I suppose but I wouldn't take stock advice from a novice like me lol.

Sure! You could have bought them yesterday, today or on Monday once the markets open. But I say curb your enthusiasm! A casual glance at the price curve of OTIC, FREQ or EARS might take the air out of your tires.

There is something in medicine known as (I think it's called) spontaneous remission. You know, someone gets cured from some ailment and they have no medical explanation for it.

Back in the old days of alt.support.tinnitus on Usenet there was this lady who reported that her tinnitus left her completely when she took off on an a Delta airlines flight from Detroit to Buffalo. Well the stupid floozie forgot to tell us which type of Boeing plane she had been flying in, what seat she was sitting in, what altitude the plane was at. Another golden opportunity lost for me to get rid of this affliction

Congratulations. You might be the first one to trailblaze a way out of this prison.

Don't just disappear. Keep us informed of how you progress.

Once again I slept 4 hours this night... with a rotten day... Just because I went to a concert of The Rolling Stones...

Now I read hope. Yes please keep us informed :)
