I wore plugs while bicycling to the store and back (~30 mins) on a very hot day, I'm guessing my moist and warm ear was an ideal environment for bacteria. My left ear canal has been super itchy, sore and slightly swollen for 4 days now. Tinnitus has spiked a bit, hopefully temporarily.

How to speed up recovery? I'm guessing any ENT would simply try to prescribe me some ototoxic antibiotics and/or ear drops.

I bike wearing foam earplugs every day and never had a problem...

Also: hearing issues and "fast" recovery and often not compatible. Hearing recovery is usually slow.
