Just wanted to know if there any research on this? Like which one is more likely to recover, stay the same, get worse etc. etc.

My symptoms all started AFTER an ear infection, never ever had tinnitus or hyperacusis before (my tinnitus is very mild 3 months after the ear infection).

Hyperacusis is pretty annoying I'd say, burning ears sometimes, feelings of wetness, slight fullness, sandpaper grating my ear feeling and reaction to high frequency noises.

Before anyone claims I didn't have hyperacusis in the first place, I got it from an ear infection along with tinnitus at first. At my worst I couldn't stand my own voice or the cats playing on the wooden floor (something I can't even hear normally since I'm severely hard of hearing), and your typical cabinets closing, dishes and so on. I was listening to YouTube videos on 10% volume and didn't go out for about 2 months.

Now seemingly overnight, my symptoms improved I'd say about 70%.

I don't have constant burning anymore and the feeling of my ear just being an open wound has mostly gone. I did not take any medication. I suspect I had a spike in between, when I argued with my brother really loudly for about 30 minutes and broke a few glasses (don't ask, bad temper) and that also has subsided.

In all my hyperacusis experience is about 2-3 months long now.

What can I expect and has anyone had that happen to them?

No clue why. Lucky bastard. Enjoy those ears.

I really do feel like ear infections heal better or faster than acoustic traumas, I don't know though...

At least when you heal you'll have actual functioning ear, I can't hear shit.

Wow, all I can say is congrats. You've been given an amazing second chance that most of us with this condition never get. Protect your ears and enjoy your new lease of life.

How did your hyperacusis come by? How about your acoustic trauma?

I'm not relieved by a long shot yet, I'm extremely cautious.

The week is almost over and I have been about 80% symptom free, even went to postal office on my skateboard and all.

Talking still tires me out though.
